Goodway GVF-1214

There are two GVF models with a 1,250 mm (49.2 in) table, and the Goodway GVF-1214 is the lighter of them. It turns 1,400 mm (55.1 in) in diameter but carries only 3,700 kg (8,157 lb), the lowest table load in the GVF series and less even than the smaller GVF-1112.

That combination tells a buyer what the machine is for: large-diameter, light parts. Thin rings, covers, aluminium housings and fabricated discs need the diameter but not the load rating or the torque of a heavier machine. The GVF-1214 keeps the smaller drive train of the series, with 10,170 Nm (7,501 lb-ft) of table torque, a 12-position tool magazine and the 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) continuous tooling spindle option.

Note how close the swing is to the turning diameter. Swing is 1,450 mm (57.1 in), only slightly above the largest turned diameter, so jaws and clamps that protrude beyond the part will need to be checked against it. X travel is 1,550 mm (61.0 in).

In all other respects it is a GVF: a fixed beam, 900 mm (35.4 in) of turning height and Z travel, over-sized box ways, a table spindle on crossed roller bearings and a motor of 37 kW (49.6 hp) continuous, 45 kW (60.3 hp) for 30 min. The alternative on the same table is the GVF-1215, which carries 5,000 kg (11,023 lb), delivers 17,100 Nm (12,613 lb-ft) and has a 16-tool magazine.
