Honor Seiki VL-66C

The Honor Seiki VL-66C opens the maker's Heavy Duty Series: a box way vertical lathe that swings and turns 850 mm (33.4 in), takes parts 650 mm (25.5 in) tall and carries 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). It is a turning-only machine. The live spindle row of the table shows a dash in the C column and a speed only for the VL-66CM beside it.

Load rating is where it parts company with the High Speed Series machine of the same number. The VL-66A/AR is limited to 650 kg (1,433 lb) and turns 760 mm (29.9 in); the C version more than doubles the weight and adds diameter, while giving up some height against that machine's 750 mm (29.5 in). Honor Seiki attributes the stiffness to Meehanite castings for column and bed in a box structure, and to box ways, and names tough materials and aerospace work as the target.

The standard chuck is a hydraulic 3-jaw with cylinder, sized to specification, with a set of soft jaws. A table with a manual 4-jaw chuck is the alternative on the option list. Twelve tool positions are listed. Coolant comes from a tank with a separate bed wash down, and chips leave on a hinge type conveyor.
