How much does the Fidia Linea S3 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fidia Linea S3 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fidia Linea S3 is the shortest of three Linea S gantries that Fidia builds for aluminium aerospace structures. Its X travel is 2,200 mm (86 in), which is less than its Y travel of 3,000 mm (118 in), with 1,250 mm (49 in) of Z. Axis speeds are 60 m/min in X and Y and 30 m/min in Z.
A machine wider than it is long suits a particular kind of part: ribs, frames and fittings loaded across the gantry, or several smaller components nested side by side. Fidia describes the Linea S as designed for avionics structural components in aluminum alloys. Its cast iron workpiece table is independent of the side walls and anchored to the foundation, so the clearance under the head can be set to suit production.
The head is the M5S, a symmetrical fork in cast iron with A travel of ±110° and C travel of ±360°. Both axes are driven by tandem dual motors and can be locked by hydraulic brakes for heavy cuts. For aluminium the M5S/55-24 is the natural spindle: 24,000 1/min or 20,000 1/min, 55 kW and 88 Nm on HSK-A63. The M5S/65-15 offers 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100 at 15,000 1/min or 12,000 1/min.
The Linea S4 and Linea S6 share every figure except X, at 4,500 mm (177 in) and 6,200 mm (244 in). The control is a Fidia CNC with adaptive control as standard, and the machine is also available with Siemens Sinumerik ONE.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Y travel of 3,000 mm (118 in) on the shortest Linea S, so wide parts fit a machine with only 2,200 mm (86 in) of X
- M5S symmetrical head with tandem dual motors on A and C and hydraulic brakes on both axes
- 24,000 1/min spindle with 55 kW on HSK-A63 for aluminium, or 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100
- Axis speeds of 60 m/min in X and Y
- Available with a Fidia CNC or with Siemens Sinumerik ONE
Limitations
- X travel of 2,200 mm (86 in) rules out long spars and stringers; the Linea S6 offers 6,200 mm (244 in)
- Z moves at 30 m/min, half the speed of X and Y
- No table size, table load or tool magazine capacity is given for the Linea S
- Designed around aluminium alloys: the highest spindle torque listed is 124 Nm

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 2,200 mm (86 in), Y is 3,000 mm (118 in) and Z is 1,250 mm (49 in). The axes move at 60 m/min in X and Y and 30 m/min in Z. The M5S head adds A travel of ±110° and C travel of ±360°.
02
Fidia states that the Linea S is specifically designed for machining avionics structural components in aluminum alloys. The 24,000 1/min spindle option and the 60 m/min axis speeds in X and Y fit that work, where metal removal depends on speed more than on torque.
03
Two. The M5S/55-24 runs at 24,000 1/min or 20,000 1/min with 55 kW and 88 Nm on HSK-A63. The M5S/65-15 runs at 15,000 1/min or 12,000 1/min with 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100. Fidia's table does not explain what separates the two speed ratings of each spindle.
04
Yes. Fidia fits its own CNC with adaptive control as a standard feature and states that the Linea S is also available with the Siemens Sinumerik ONE. Decide early, because the control determines post-processors, cycles and operator training.
