How much does the Fidia Linea M3 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fidia Linea M3 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fidia Linea M3 is the compact end of Fidia's linear-motor gantry line for moulds and tooling. X travel is 2,200 mm (86 in), Y is 3,000 mm (118 in) and Z is 1,250 mm (49 in), with axis speeds of 60 m/min in X and Y and 30 m/min in Z.
Fidia positions the Linea M for semi-finishing and finishing of precision moulds, and says the more compact versions suit the mould sizes typical of plastic injection and die-casting. That is the job of this size. Finishing a cavity is a long run of short, direction-changing moves, and linear motors, which the maker describes as high in dynamics with no maintenance, are aimed squarely at that.
Head choice is the main decision. The M5A is a compact cast iron head with A travel of +95° ÷ -110°, built to reach into narrow cavities. The M5S is a symmetrical fork with ±110° of A and hydraulic brakes on both axes. Either carries a 55 kW spindle on HSK-A63 with 88 Nm, at 24,000 1/min or 20,000 1/min, or a 65 kW spindle on HSK-A100 with 124 Nm, at 15,000 1/min or 12,000 1/min.
The worktable is cast iron, separate from the side walls and anchored to the foundation; versions with a monolithic base are available to simplify the foundation. The Linea M4 and Linea M6 lengthen X to 4,500 mm (177 in) and 6,200 mm (244 in). The control is Fidia or Siemens.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Linear motor gantry aimed at semi-finishing and finishing of precision moulds
- Choice of M5A head for narrow cavities or M5S symmetrical head with hydraulic axis brakes
- 3,000 mm (118 in) of Y on a machine with 2,200 mm (86 in) of X
- Spindles up to 24,000 1/min on HSK-A63, or 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100
- Monolithic-base versions are available to simplify the foundation
Limitations
- Presented for semi-finishing and finishing: the highest listed spindle torque is 124 Nm, so heavy roughing belongs elsewhere
- Z travel of 1,250 mm (49 in) at 30 m/min, half the speed of X and Y
- Table size, table load and tool magazine capacity are not listed
- The standard layout anchors the worktable to the foundation, which means civil work unless the monolithic base is chosen

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Axis travels are 2,200 mm (86 in) in X, 3,000 mm (118 in) in Y and 1,250 mm (49 in) in Z. It is the shortest of three versions; Fidia says the more compact versions are ideal for mould sizes typical of plastic injection and die-casting.
02
The M5A is compact, with A travel of +95° ÷ -110°, and Fidia says its structure allows access even into the narrowest cavities. The M5S is a symmetrical fork with ±110° of A, tandem dual motors and hydraulic brakes on A and C. Both turn ±360° on C and take the same spindle ratings.
03
The 55 kW spindles are listed at 24,000 1/min or 20,000 1/min with 88 Nm on HSK-A63. The 65 kW spindles are listed at 15,000 1/min or 12,000 1/min with 124 Nm on HSK-A100. Check with Fidia which rating applies to the configuration you are offered.
04
In the standard layout the cast iron worktable is independent from the side walls and anchored to the foundation, which lets the clearance under the head be adapted to production needs. Fidia also offers versions with a monolithic base to simplify the foundation.
