How much does the Fidia ARIAL 4 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fidia ARIAL 4 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fidia ARIAL 4 takes the compact ARIAL gantry and stretches its Y axis to 4,300 mm (169.3 in). X travel is 2,900 mm (114.2 in) and Z is 1,300 mm (51.2 in), in a 5-axis machine for composites, resins, plastics, aluminium and light alloys.
That makes Y the long axis by a wide margin. Compared with the ARIAL 3 and its 1,740 mm (68.5 in) of Y, the envelope suits long panels and profiles, or two separate jobs set up one behind the other. Everything else in the table is shared with the smaller machine.
Speeds are 80 m/min in X and Y and 60 m/min in Z. Over a 4,300 mm (169.3 in) axis, a high traverse rate pays back on every repositioning move, which in trimming work can be a large share of the cycle. The spindle is rated 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6, and runs to 24,000 rpm with HSK-A63 tooling.
The 5-axis head has B limits of ±120° and C limits of ±360°. Fidia lists a tool magazine with 8, 16 or 24 positions, a monolithic structure and wide doorways with no central pillar, compatible with manual and automated workpiece handling. For more spindle power in a similar length, the ARIAL 40 offers 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp), S1/S6 with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4,300 mm (169.3 in) of Y travel in the compact ARIAL design
- Same 1,300 mm (51.2 in) Z as the ARIAL 3, more than the 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of the ARIAL 40
- 80 m/min in X and Y keeps repositioning times short over a long axis
- Doorways with no central pillar for loading long parts
Limitations
- Spindle power stays at 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6 despite the larger envelope
- X travel is 2,900 mm (114.2 in), so the extra capacity is in one direction only
- Pendular mode and twin shuttle are listed for the moving-beam ARIAL machines, not for this version

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Only in Y travel: 4,300 mm (169.3 in) on the ARIAL 4 against 1,740 mm (68.5 in) on the ARIAL 3. X travel of 2,900 mm (114.2 in), Z travel of 1,300 mm (51.2 in), axis speeds, spindle and head limits are the same in Fidia's table.
02
A 5-axis milling head with a spindle rated 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6, a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm and an HSK-A63 tool holder. No torque figure is given, so check the power curve if you plan to cut aluminium with larger tools.
03
Fidia describes the two compact ARIAL machines as 5-axis gantry machining centres with a monolithic structure, and uses the term moving-beam for the ARIAL 40 and its longer versions. The two groups also differ in spindle power and in Z travel.
04
Fidia states that the wide doorways with no central pillar allow unrestricted access to the working area and are compatible with both manual and automated workpiece handling systems. The details of any automation are not described.
