How much does the Hartford 5A-32E cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford 5A-32E that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Hartford 5A-32E is a compact 5-axis vertical machining center with a Ø 320 mm (12.6 in) trunnion table. The linear axes travel 450 mm (17.7 in) in X, 400 mm (15.7 in) in Y and 360 mm (14.2 in) in Z; the B axis tilts from +110° to -40° and the C axis rotates 360°.
In the 5A naming the E model is the full simultaneous 5-axis version, and the 5A-32EF beside it is listed as a 4+1 axis machine. The two share one spec table, so the difference lies in the control and how the rotary axes may be used, not in the iron.
Hartford builds the machine so that the three linear axes are stacked above the work and the workpiece does not ride on them. The table only tilts and turns. That keeps the moving mass in X, Y and Z constant whatever is clamped on the trunnion, and it is why the load rating is given by orientation: H200 / V150 kg, horizontal and vertical.
Spindle options are wide for a small machine. The DDS direct-drive spindle is listed at 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 rpm and the built-in spindle at 15,000 / 20,000 / 24,000 rpm, with shaft cooling that Hartford says reduces spindle thermal displacement by 70%. Motor ratings read 7.5 / 9.8 kW, optionally 10 / 12.5 kW (S6~40%). The magazine holds 60 tools or 120, and shanks are BT40 with HSK A63 among the alternatives.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Full 5-axis machine with B axis range of +110° ~ -40° and 360° C axis
- Built-in spindle options up to 24,000 rpm with shaft cooling
- Tool magazine of 60 or 120 tools on a small machine
- Linear axes overlap above the workpiece, so the part does not move in X, Y or Z
- Minimum tool change time of 1.38 secs
Limitations
- Table load is H200 / V150 kg, so only small workpieces and fixtures fit
- Z travel of 360 mm (14.2 in) limits tool length plus part height
- Largest motor is 10 / 12.5 kW (S6~40%)
- The table is a Ø 320 mm (12.6 in) disc; long parts are out of scope

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X 450 mm (17.7 in), Y 400 mm (15.7 in), Z 360 mm (14.2 in), B axis +110° ~ -40° and C axis 360°. The rotary table is Ø 320 mm (12.6 in) with T-slots listed as 14 x 45° (8) mm.
02
The max. load row reads H200 / V150 kg: the higher figure with the table horizontal, the lower with it tilted vertical. Fixtures count toward those limits.
03
Hartford lists the 5A-32E as a 5 Axis Vertical Machining Center and the 5A-32EF as a 4+1 axis version. Travels, table, spindles and magazine are the same in both tables. Buyers who need all five axes interpolating together should specify the 5A-32E.
04
A DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 rpm and a built-in spindle at 15,000 / 20,000 / 24,000 rpm, both #40. The spindle is oil-air lubricated, and Hartford states a 2-year warranty without operation hours limit.
