How much does the Fidia Linea S4 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fidia Linea S4 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 4,500 mm (177 in) of X, the Fidia Linea S4 is the middle size of Fidia's compact gantry for aerospace aluminium. Y travel is 3,000 mm (118 in), Z is 1,250 mm (49 in), and the gantry moves at 60 m/min in X and Y.
Speed is the point of the design. The Linea series grew out of the linear motor machine Fidia introduced in 2019, and the maker stresses dynamic precision in continuous 5-axis interpolation. In thin-walled aluminium parts most of the cycle is spent contouring pockets and webs, where time is set by how quickly the axes change direction and not by spindle power. Z is the slower axis at 30 m/min.
For that kind of cutting the M5S/55-24 spindle is the usual pick: 55 kW, 88 Nm, HSK-A63 and 24,000 1/min or 20,000 1/min. If the same machine also has to take heavier cuts with large tools, the M5S/65-15 gives 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100, at 15,000 1/min or 12,000 1/min. The head is a symmetrical cast iron fork with ±110° on A and ±360° on C, and hydraulic brakes lock either axis during high-removal cuts.
The Linea S3 has 2,200 mm (86 in) of X and the Linea S6 has 6,200 mm (244 in); nothing else in the table changes. The Linea M4 has the same travels as this machine but is aimed at moulds and tooling. A Fidia CNC is standard and Siemens Sinumerik ONE is available.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4,500 mm (177 in) of X with 3,000 mm (118 in) of Y covers medium-length structural parts, or two shorter ones end to end
- 60 m/min in X and Y for contour-heavy aluminium work
- Hydraulic brakes lock A and C in any position for high-removal cuts
- Spindle choice of 24,000 1/min on HSK-A63 or 124 Nm on HSK-A100
Limitations
- Z travel is 1,250 mm (49 in) and Z speed is 30 m/min
- A travel of ±110° on the M5S head sets the limit for undercut angles
- Table dimensions and load are not listed; the table is a separate cast iron unit anchored to the foundation
- The 20,000 1/min and 12,000 1/min ratings are marked in the maker's table without an explanation

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel is 4,500 mm (177 in) and Y travel is 3,000 mm (118 in), with 1,250 mm (49 in) of Z. Usable length depends on the table and fixtures chosen, which Fidia does not list, so confirm the table size when you specify the machine.
02
The table of axis speeds gives 60/60/30 m/min for X, Y and Z. In practice the two long axes move at 60 m/min and the vertical axis at 30 m/min. No acceleration figure is given for the Linea S.
03
Their travels are identical. The Linea S is presented for avionics structural components in aluminum alloys and is listed with the M5S symmetrical head, while the Linea M4 is presented for moulds and tooling and is listed with a choice of M5A or M5S heads.
04
It depends on the spindle. The M5S/55-24 uses HSK-A63 and the M5S/65-15 uses HSK-A100. Tool magazine capacity is not stated for the Linea S, so ask how many positions are offered for each interface.
