Fidia Linea C3 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia Linea C3 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia Linea C3 is a 5-axis gantry for composites, the shortest of the three Linea C sizes, with 2,200 mm (86 in) of X, 3,000 mm (118 in) of Y and 1,200 mm (47 in) of Z. What sets the line apart from Fidia's metal-cutting gantries is everything built around dust.

CFRP, honeycomb, graphite and ceramic matrix composites produce fine, abrasive and in some cases potentially explosive dust. The Linea C answers with capture at the source through flexible collectors and retractable hoods around the spindle, a programmable hood (DRP/M5-R2) positioned by the CNC, ATEX Zone 22 filtration units, and a push-pull airflow that sweeps the working chamber toward the filters.

Mechanically it is built like a metal-cutting machine, which Fidia says gives stable positioning and contouring with 5 continuous axes. X and Y run on linear motors at 60 m/min and Z on double ball screws at 30 m/min. The heads are the M5A with a cast iron body or the M5C with an aluminum body, both with HSK63A spindles at 20,000 1/min or 24,000 1/min and 30 kW or 35 kW. A 55 kW spindle is listed only for M5A.

At this length the machine suits individual panels, fairings and trim jobs loaded across the 3,000 mm (118 in) Y axis. A 24 or 42-position magazine with an automatic protective door keeps tools out of the dust, and the TMS laser tool measurement system sits inside it. The Linea C4 and Linea C6 extend X to 4,500 mm (177 in) and 6,200 mm (244 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Dust capture at the source with flexible collectors and retractable hoods around the spindle
  • ATEX Zone 22 filtration units for potentially explosive dust such as graphite and CFC
  • Linear motors on X and Y with 60 m/min axis speed
  • M5A or M5C head with HSK63A spindles at 20,000 1/min or 24,000 1/min
  • 24 or 42-position tool magazine behind an automatic protective door, with laser tool measurement inside

Limitations

  • X travel of 2,200 mm (86 in) is short for long aircraft panels; the Linea C6 lists 6,200 mm (244 in)
  • Spindle power is 30 kW or 35 kW unless the M5A head with a 55 kW spindle is chosen
  • All listed spindles are HSK63A; there is no larger interface
  • Dust extraction and filtration units add ducting and floor space around the machine

Best For

Trimming and drilling of CFRP parts Honeycomb and multi-layer composite machining Graphite and ceramic matrix composite work that needs ATEX-rated extraction Panels loaded across a 3,000 mm (118 in) Y travel

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What materials is the Fidia Linea C3 built for?

Composite materials: Fidia names CFRP, multi-layer composites, honeycomb and CMC (Ceramic Matrix Composites), and the dust extraction is also described for graphite and ceramics. The heads carry spindles and extraction systems designed for hard and abrasive materials.

02 How does the Linea C3 deal with dust?

In three layers. Flexible collectors and retractable hoods capture dust at the tool, with a programmable hood (DRP/M5-R2) that the CNC positions to suit the part. ATEX Zone 22 filtration units handle potentially explosive dust. A push-pull airflow then clears the working chamber toward the filters.

03 What are the travels and speeds of the Linea C3?

Travels are 2,200 mm (86 in) in X, 3,000 mm (118 in) in Y and 1,200 mm (47 in) in Z, at 60/60/30 m/min. The brochure gives an axis acceleration of 4 m/s².

04 Which heads and spindles can the Linea C3 have?

The M5A head has a cast iron body and the M5C an aluminum body; both are continuous 5-axis heads. Spindles are 30 kW or 35 kW at 20,000 1/min or 24,000 1/min, all on HSK63A, with permanent grease or air/oil lubrication. The 55 kW spindles are only for M5A.
