How much does the Fidia BRIDGE 4 cost?

Price estimate

Uncertain

We do not have a price for the Fidia BRIDGE 4 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.

Fidia BRIDGE 4 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia BRIDGE 4 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia BRIDGE 4 is the largest machine in the BRIDGE range of fixed-portal 5-axis milling centres, with 4,200 mm (165 in) of X travel and a table rated for 12,000 kg (26,455 lb). Y travel is 2,250 mm (88 in) and Z is 1,000 mm (39 in).

Weight capacity is what separates it from its siblings. The BRIDGE 3 shares the Y and Z travels but is rated for 8,000 kg (17,637 lb), so the step up buys a longer X and half as much load again. On a moving-table machine that load is accelerated with every X move, which is why Fidia supports the table throughout its entire stroke and reinforces the base with dense ribbing.

Large moulds, full-size models and structural aerospace parts are the applications Fidia names for the range. The M5A bi-rotary head covers them with A travel of -95° / +110° and C travel of ±360°, carrying either the M5A/55-24 spindle (24,000 1/min, 55 kW, 89 Nm, HSK-A63) or the M5A/65-15 (15,000 1/min, 65 kW, 124 Nm, HSK-A100). The magazine holds up to 60 positions.

Two cautions. Z is 1,000 mm (39 in) as on the smaller sizes, so cavity depth does not grow with the machine. And confirm the table dimensions for this size with Fidia before planning fixtures.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Longest X travel in the range at 4,200 mm (165 in)
  • Table load of 12,000 kg (26,455 lb), against 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) on the BRIDGE 3
  • Table supported throughout its entire stroke on roller guides, with a C3-class ballscrew drive
  • Same M5A head and spindle choices as the smaller sizes, up to 65 kW and 124 Nm
  • Y carriage on 3 roller guides set on two sides of the crossbeam

Limitations

  • Y travel is 2,250 mm (88 in), no wider than on the BRIDGE 3
  • Z travel stays at 1,000 mm (39 in) despite the larger plan size
  • A moving table with up to 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) on it needs floor length for the whole X stroke
  • No spindle above 124 Nm is listed for heavy roughing
06

Best For

Long moulds and tooling up to 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) Full-size models and prototypes along 4,200 mm (165 in) of X Aerospace structural parts machined in 5 axes

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the maximum workpiece weight on the Fidia BRIDGE 4?

The maximum table load is 12,000 kg (26,455 lb), the highest in the BRIDGE range. That figure has to include fixtures and clamping, and the whole mass moves with the table along the 4,200 mm (165 in) X axis.

02 What are the axis travels of the BRIDGE 4?

X is 4,200 mm (165 in), Y is 2,250 mm (88 in) and Z is 1,000 mm (39 in). The M5A head adds A travel of -95° / +110° and C travel of ±360° for continuous 5-axis or positional work.

03 Is the BRIDGE 4 head different from the one on the smaller BRIDGE machines?

No. Fidia offers the same two spindle choices for the bi-rotary head across the three sizes: the M5A/55-24 with 24,000 1/min, 55 kW and 89 Nm on HSK-A63, and the M5A/65-15 with 15,000 1/min, 65 kW and 124 Nm on HSK-A100.

04 What drives the axes of the BRIDGE 4?

The table runs on precision roller guides and a C3-class ballscrew directly coupled to a brushless motor. The Y carriage rides on 3 roller guides on two sides of the crossbeam, and the vertical ram is driven by two ballscrews with brushless motors in tandem.
