How much does the AWEA LP-3016YZF cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-3016YZF that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Five spindle speeds appear in the specification of the AWEA LP-3016YZF, and choosing among them is the main decision on this machine. The frame is fixed: 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X, 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y, 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z, and a 3,260 x 1,500 mm (128.3 x 59.1 in) table for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb). All spindles share a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) rating and the BT50 taper.
Standard is the 4,000 rpm gear spindle. AWEA quotes 977 N-m at 254 rpm for it, the highest torque of the three spindle types, delivered through a 2-speed gear box. Pick it when the work is steel or cast iron with large cutters.
The built-in motorized spindle, optional at 6,000 or 8,000 rpm, sits in the middle with a stated maximum of 600 N-m at 350 rpm. The maker's argument for it is smoothness: with the motor built in, centrifugal effects and spindle vibration are reduced. It is the general-purpose choice for a shop that roughs and finishes on the same machine.
Direct drive, at 8,000 or 10,000 rpm, gives up torque for speed. The stated maximum is 165 N-m at 1,500 rpm. AWEA says this layout keeps motor heat away from the spindle, and it is the only choice that lets the Z axis be built on roller type linear guide ways in place of the standard hardened box way.
Whichever is ordered, tools are limited to 20 kg (44 lb) and 400 mm (15.7 in) in length, and the magazine holds 32 as standard with 60 and 90 optional.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Three spindle types on one frame: 4,000 rpm gear, 6,000 / 8,000 rpm built-in, 8,000 / 10,000 rpm direct drive
- 977 N-m at 254 rpm from the standard gear spindle, as stated by AWEA
- 1,000 mm (39.4 in) Z travel with the spindle nose 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in) above the table
- The 3,260 mm table is longer than the 3,000 mm (118.1 in) X stroke
- X and Y rapids of 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm), the last size to keep that figure on X
Limitations
- Everything above 4,000 rpm is an option, so a finishing-oriented machine has to be specified that way from the start
- The direct drive spindles top out at 165 N-m, a fraction of the gear spindle's 977 N-m
- 1,700 mm (66.9 in) between columns restricts part width when a horizontal head works the sides
- VDI repeatability of Ps ≤ 0.020 mm, against Ps ≤ 0.015 mm on the LP-2516YZF

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The 4,000 rpm spindle is marked as standard. The built-in 6,000 / 8,000 rpm and direct drive 8,000 / 10,000 rpm spindles are marked as options. This differs from the LP-3016YF, whose table gives 6,000 rpm as the base speed and lists only the direct drive spindles as options.
02
AWEA states a maximum of 977 N-m at 254 rpm for the 4,000 rpm high torque gear spindle, 600 N-m at 350 rpm for the built-in motorized spindles and 165 N-m at 1,500 rpm for the direct drive spindles. The torque peak moves up in speed as the torque falls, which is why the gear spindle suits large cutters and the direct drive suits small ones.
03
It can. The Z axis is a hardened and ground box way as standard, which AWEA describes as suited to heavy-duty cutting. As an option, the Z axis can be built with roller type linear guide ways if the machine has a high speed direct drive spindle. X and Y run on roller type linear guide ways in every configuration.
04
For height and low-speed torque. The LP-3016YZF has 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z and a spindle nose range of 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in). The LP-3016YF has 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z and a range of 400 ~ 1,160 mm (15.7 ~ 45.7 in). Travel in X and Y, table, load and the listed weight of 29,000 kg (63,933 lb) are the same.
05
A tool may weigh up to 20 kg (44 lb) and be up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long. Diameter is limited to Ø127 mm (Ø5.0 in) with neighbouring pockets filled and Ø215 mm (Ø8.5 in) with them empty. Large face mills for the gear spindle will usually need the empty-neighbour arrangement, which reduces the usable count of a 32-tool magazine.
