Overview
The Fidia UHE 1600 is the heavy-duty model of Fidia's 5-axis universal machining centres, with travels of 1,620 mm (63.8 in) in X, 1,260 mm (49.6 in) in Y and 1,050 mm (41.3 in) in Z. Its rotary table is Ø 1,400 mm (55.1 in) and takes 4,000 kg (8,818 lb).
Where the UHE 1000 uses a worm gear, this table is driven by a torque motor and turns at up to 60 rpm, with a clamping torque of 3,430 Nm. The swivelling head, also on a torque motor, covers 0° ÷ 180° in 0.001° steps. Fidia describes the layout as a combination of a bridge type machine and a travelling column machine, with a 4 linear guideways system on the X axis for heavy-duty cutting.
The spindle is sized for heavy cuts. The standard motor spindle runs at 8,000 rpm on HSK 100A or BT#50 with 36/45 kW - 340/418 Nm (S1/S6), on Ø 100mm ceramic bearings. An optional HSK 100A electro spindle reaches 15,000 rpm. The 60-position magazine takes tools up to 180 mm / 400 mm and 10 kg.
Maximum feed is 24 m/min on the linear axes, with 55/55/63 mm ballscrews and 55/55/55 mm roller guides. Floor space is 7,000 x 5,500 x 4,500 mm (L x W x H) and the power supply required is 20 kVA. Linear scales and direct rotary encoders are in the basic machine.
