Overview

The Fermat WRF 150 is the middle model of the WRF floor-type series and the point where the drive steps up. Its 150 mm (5.9 in) spindle is driven by 58/86 kW or 74/109 kW (S1/S6) with a Heidenhain or Siemens control, and torque is 3,281/4,988 Nm or 3,349/4,923 Nm. Top speed is 2,800 rpm, with 3,500 rpm as an option.

Why choose it over the WRF 130? Torque and reach. The WRF 130 tops out at 2,713/3,989 Nm and extends its spindle 800 mm (31.5 in). Here the spindle travels 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in W and the ram 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z, with a 1,500 mm (59.1 in) ram optional. For large face mills, long boring bars and heavy roughing in steel castings those are the figures that count, and the lower spindle speed is what is given up.

The frame is common to the series. X runs 4,000 - 27,500 mm (157.5 - 1,082.7 in) and Y is chosen between 2,500 mm (98.4 in) and 6,000 mm (236.2 in). Rapid feed is 20,000 and 15,000 mm/min in X and Y and 10,000 mm/min (393.7 ipm) in Z and W. Tooling is SK 50, BIG+ or HSK100.

With a Fanuc CNC a single motor is listed, 60/75 kW (S1/S3) with 2,829/3,536 Nm, so the highest torque figures belong to the Heidenhain and Siemens versions. Fermat equips the series with floor plates and/or rotary tables holding up to 100 metric tons.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much torque does the WRF 150 have?

With a Heidenhain or Siemens CNC the table lists 3,281/4,988 Nm for the 58/86 kW motor and 3,349/4,923 Nm for the 74/109 kW motor, each as S1/S6. With Fanuc the figure is 2,829/3,536 Nm (S1/S3) from a 60/75 kW motor.

02 Is the WRF 150 the same machine as the WRF 160/180?

In Fermat's table the two share the rows for power, torque, ram travel, spindle travel and rapid feed. They differ in the spindle: 150 mm (5.9 in) at 2,800 rpm here, and 160/180 mm (6.3/7.1 in) at 2,500 rpm on the WRF 160/180.

03 How far does the ram of the WRF 150 travel?

1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z as standard and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) as an option. The boring spindle adds 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in W. Fermat's own summary of the series gives a ram stroke from 900 mm to 1500 mm; the table row for this model starts at 1,200 mm.

04 Which rotary tables fit the WRF 150?

Rotary tables are an optional accessory. The listed loads are 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) for the T20, 25,000 kg for the T25, 50,000 kg for the T50, 60,000 kg for the T60, 80,000 kg for the T80 and 100,000 kg (220,459 lb) for the T100. A Tilting Table TT 60/80 is also on the accessory list.
