How much does the Fermat WFT 10/11 L cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fermat WFT 10/11 L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Fermat lists the WFT 10/11 L as the linear-guideway version of its medium-size table-type horizontal boring mill. Two rows of the table set it apart. Rapid feed is 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm) in X, Y, Z and W, and the column's Z travel is a single 1,500 mm (59.1 in).
Everything that defines capacity carries over from the standard machine. The boring spindle is 100/110 mm (3.9/4.3 in) with an SK 50 taper and 730 mm (28.7 in) of W travel. The T10 rotary table takes 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) with X of 2,000/3,000 mm (78.7/118.1 in); the optional T20 raises the load to 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) and extends X to as much as 5,000 mm (196.9 in). Headstock travel in Y is 1,250/1,700/2,000 mm (49.2/66.9/78.7 in).
Is the L worth choosing? It depends on how the cycle is made up. Coordinate drilling and tapping across a large frame is mostly traverse, and a higher rapid feed shows up directly in the cycle time. Deep boring and heavy facing are cutting time, where the guideway type does not raise the limit: the motors are 19.5/29.3 kW and 31/46.5 kW units with a Heidenhain or Siemens control, or 22/26 kW and 30/37 kW with Fanuc, and the top speed is still 4,000 rpm (5,000 rpm optional).
The rotary table turns at 2 rpm, with 5 rpm optional. Fermat says the machine can be fitted with a pallet change system.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm) rapid feed on X, Y, Z and W
- 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of column travel in Z
- 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table as standard, with the 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) T20 option
- SK 50 spindle to 4,000 rpm, optionally 5,000 rpm, with 730 mm (28.7 in) of W travel
Limitations
- Z is fixed at 1,500 mm (59.1 in); the WFT 10/11 offers 1,250/1,700 mm (49.2/66.9 in)
- Table rotation stays at 2 rpm unless the 5 rpm option is ordered
- Rapid feed is well short of the 30,000 mm/min (1,181.1 ipm) listed for the WFC 10 L
- No increase in spindle power or torque comes with the linear guideways

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Two rows of Fermat's table. The WFT 10/11 L rapids at 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm) on X, Y, Z and W, and its Z travel is 1,500 mm (59.1 in). The WFT 10/11 without the L is listed at 8,000 mm/min (315.0 ipm) and 1,250/1,700 mm (49.2/66.9 in) of Z. Fermat describes the L as the version with linear guideways.
02
10,000 kg (22,046 lb) on the standard T10 table and 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) with the optional T20 table. T10 plates are listed from 1,200 x 1,200 mm to 1,600 x 1,800 mm, T20 plates from 1,600 x 1,800 mm to 2,000 x 3,000 mm. Fermat's description gives up to 10 tons as the design figure and 20 metric tons for the long-X version.
03
X is 2,000/3,000 mm (78.7/118.1 in) with the T10 table and optionally 2,000/3,000/4,000/5,000 mm (78.7/118.1/157.5/196.9 in) with the T20. Y is 1,250/1,700/2,000 mm (49.2/66.9/78.7 in), Z is 1,500 mm (59.1 in), and the spindle travels 730 mm (28.7 in) in W.
