How much does the Fermat WFC 10 L cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fermat WFC 10 L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fermat WFC 10 L is the linear-guideway version of Fermat's compact cross-table horizontal boring mill. The layout is unchanged: a stationary column, a table that carries both X and Z, and a boring spindle of 100/110 mm (3.9/4.3 in) with 730 mm (28.7 in) of W travel. What changes is how fast the axes move. Rapid feed in X, Y and Z is 30,000 mm/min (1,181.1 ipm), the spindle quill moves at 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm), and the rotary table turns at 10 rpm.
Those figures matter most on parts with many short moves. A housing with bores and bolt patterns on four faces spends much of its cycle positioning and indexing, and that is where time comes off. On a single long boring cut the L gains nothing, because spindle and motors are shared with the WFC 10/11: SK 50 taper, 4,000 rpm (5,000 rpm optional), and 19.5/29.3 kW or 30/45.5 kW (S1/S6) with a Heidenhain or Siemens control.
Z travel is 1,500 mm (59.1 in). X is offered at 1,250/2,000 mm (49.2/78.7 in) and Y at 1,250/1,700/2,000 mm (49.2/66.9/78.7 in). The table carries 5,000 kg (11,023 lb), so the faster axes do not come with a higher load rating.
Fermat calls the WFC line compact and lists it for shops with limited floor space and for serial production. The accessory list for the series includes a pallet changer, a tool changer and a robot.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 30,000 mm/min (1,181.1 ipm) rapid feed in X, Y and Z on linear motion guideways
- Rotary table rapid of 10 rpm for quick indexing between faces
- 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z travel plus 730 mm (28.7 in) of spindle travel
- SK 50 spindle to 4,000 rpm, or 5,000 rpm as an option
- Stationary column and cross table keep the footprint short
Limitations
- Table load is 5,000 kg (11,023 lb), no higher than on the slower version
- X travel tops out at 2,000 mm (78.7 in)
- Only one Z travel is listed, 1,500 mm (59.1 in)
- Torque peaks at 1,416/2,124 Nm (S1/S6) with the larger Heidenhain or Siemens motor, modest for heavy face milling

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Fermat describes the WFC 10 L as the version with linear motion guideways. In the table it has its own column: 30,000 mm/min (1,181.1 ipm) rapid feed in X, Y and Z, 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm) in W, a 10 rpm rotary table and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z travel.
02
The WFC 10/11 moves at 8,000 mm/min (315.0 ipm) in X, Y, Z and W, and its table turns at 2 rpm with 5 rpm as an option. The WFC 10 L is listed at 30,000 mm/min (1,181.1 ipm) in X, Y and Z, 12,000 mm/min (472.4 ipm) in W and 10 rpm on the table.
03
Travels are 1,250/2,000 mm (49.2/78.7 in) in X, 1,250/1,700/2,000 mm (49.2/66.9/78.7 in) in Y and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) in Z, and the table is rated for 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). Table plates are listed from 1,000 x 1,120 mm to 1,400 x 1,800 mm.
04
Two per control family. With Heidenhain or Siemens the table gives 19.5/29.3 kW or 30/45.5 kW (S1/S6) and 951/1,426 Nm or 1,416/2,124 Nm. With Fanuc it gives 22/26 kW or 30/37 kW (S1/S3) and 823/971 Nm or 1,370/1,692 Nm. Spindle speed is 4,000 rpm, or 5,000 rpm as an option.
