Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fehlmann VERSA 943 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fehlmann VERSA 943 is the large 3-axis machine of the VERSA line, a portal machining center with a fixed 870 x 760 mm (34.3 x 29.9 in) clamping surface for workpieces up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Travels are 650 x 800 x 500 mm (25.6 x 31.5 x 19.7 in).
The clamping surface and the X/Y travel are not the same shape: 870 x 760 mm against 650 x 800 mm. A plate that fills the table is not fully reachable along its long side, so place the features that matter inside the travel. Height is less of a constraint. With 100 - 600 mm between table and spindle nose and 500 mm of Z there is room for a tall fixture and a long tool at once.
Four spindle speeds are listed: 50 - 14,000 rpm, 50 - 18,000 rpm, 50 - 24,000 rpm and 50 - 30,000 rpm. The 24,000 rpm spindle is rated 25 kW (33.5 hp) and the 30,000 rpm spindle 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) at S6 (40% ED). For the two slower spindles, confirm the rating with Fehlmann; the VERSA 945 lists 26.3 kW (35.3 hp) for its 14,000 and 18,000 rpm spindles.
Mass and cooling do the rest. The machine weighs 11,800 kg (26,014 lb) on a gray cast iron base, the slide components and the structure are cooled, and the X axis is supported along the entire bed. It occupies 2.7 / 2.97 / 3.55 m in width, depth and height. The chain magazine holds 48 tools, or 80 after the upgrade. Feed rate / rapid feed is listed as 1-50,000 mm/min under a Heidenhain TNC7.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 870 x 760 mm (34.3 x 29.9 in) clamping surface for workpieces up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb)
- 650 x 800 x 500 mm travels, the largest 3-axis envelope in the VERSA line
- 100 - 600 mm between table and spindle nose leaves room for tall fixtures
- Four spindle speeds, from 50 - 14,000 rpm to 50 - 30,000 rpm
- 48-tool chain magazine upgradable to 80 tools, with a scalable rack magazine in the tool changer row
Limitations
- The machine weighs 11,800 kg (26,014 lb) and is 3.55 m high
- Fixed table only; 5-axis work on these travels is the job of the VERSA 945
- The 30,000 rpm spindle is limited to 13.7 kW (18.4 hp)
- Zero-point clamping, through-spindle high-pressure coolant and measuring systems are options, not standard equipment

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The clamping surface is 870 x 760 mm (34.3 x 29.9 in) and the maximum table load is 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). Travel is 650 mm in X and 800 mm in Y, so compare the part outline with the travel as well as with the table before quoting a plate job.
02
Four speed ranges: 50 - 14,000 rpm, 50 - 18,000 rpm, 50 - 24,000 rpm and 50 - 30,000 rpm. The 24,000 rpm version is rated 25 kW (33.5 hp) and the 30,000 rpm version 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) at S6 (40% ED). Ask Fehlmann for the power and torque of the 14,000 and 18,000 rpm versions.
03
The tool changer with chain magazine has a capacity for 48 tools in the basic version and can be upgraded to 80 tools. Beyond that, the tool changer row of the specification names a scalable rack magazine whose capacity depends on the tool holder, so ask for the figure that applies to your taper.
04
The dimensions are 2.7 m in width, 2.97 m in depth and 3.55 m in height, and the weight is 11,800 kg (26,014 lb). The door extends into the machine roof for crane loading from the top, which adds to the headroom needed above the 3.55 m.
05
The VERSA 743 is the smaller fixed-table machine, with 500 x 650 x 420 mm travels, a 770 x 660 mm clamping surface, an 800 kg table load and a weight of 10,000 kg. Choose the VERSA 943 when the part needs 650 x 800 x 500 mm of travel or weighs up to 1,000 kg.
