Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VMX-580APC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
An automatic pallet changer on a small 40-taper frame is the whole point of the Feeler VMX-580APC. The operator loads one pallet outside the work area while the other is being cut, so the spindle keeps running through loading. Feeler quotes pallet exchange times of 6 and 10 seconds for its two APC models in this series, the VMX-580APC and the VMX-820APC, and positions both for flexible small-batch production.
Travels are those of the fixed-table VMX-580: 580 mm (22.8 in) in X, 420 mm (16.5 in) in Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z. What changes is the work surface. Each pallet is 580 x 410 mm (22.8 x 16.1 in) and carries 120 kg (265 lb), where the VMX-580 table is rated for 300 kg. Fixture weight comes straight out of that allowance, so light aluminium fixtures and small parts are the natural fit, and a heavy vise can take a large share of the rating before any part is loaded.
The cutting side is unchanged from the rest of the range. The spindle runs to 12,000 rpm with a 7/24 No.40 taper, and Feeler describes it as a direct-drive BBT40 unit. Rapids are 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) on X and Y and 32 m/min (1,260 ipm) on Z, and the magazine holds 20 tools.
Plan the job around two identical fixtures. A pallet changer only saves time if both pallets carry work, and with 20 pockets the tool list for the parts on both pallets has to fit one magazine load.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Automatic pallet changer lets parts be loaded while the machine cuts; Feeler quotes exchange times of 6 and 10 seconds for its VMX APC models
- Keeps the full 580 x 420 x 510 mm travels of the fixed-table machine
- 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) X and Y rapids with a 12,000 rpm direct-drive spindle
- Pallet length of 580 mm matches the X travel, so the whole pallet is reachable along X
Limitations
- Each pallet is rated for only 120 kg (265 lb), fixture included
- Pallet area of 580 x 410 mm is smaller than the 650 x 420 mm table of the VMX-580
- One 20-tool magazine has to serve the work on both pallets
- Feeler's table does not say which of the two quoted exchange times applies to this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Feeler's table lists a maximum loading weight of 120 kg (265 lb) on a 580 x 410 mm (22.8 x 16.1 in) pallet. That figure includes the fixture. For comparison, the fixed table of the VMX-580 is rated for 300 kg.
02
The series description says the VMX-580APC and VMX-820APC have automatic pallet changers with exchange times of 6 and 10 seconds. The sentence covers both machines and the spec table has no pallet-change row, so ask Feeler which figure is this model's.
03
No. X, Y and Z are 580, 420 and 510 mm, the same as on the VMX-580. Z does not shrink here as it does on the larger APC model: the VMX-820APC lists 505 mm of Z where the VMX-820 lists 560 mm.
04
A 12,000 rpm spindle with a 7/24 taper No.40, which Feeler describes as a high-speed direct-drive BBT40 spindle, and a 20-tool magazine. Spindle power and torque are not given on the series page.
