Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler QMP-23 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Feeler QMP-23 is a 30-taper vertical machining center built for speed on small parts. Every axis rapids at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm), the spindle turns 12,000 rpm, and the travels are 580 mm (22.8 in) in X, 420 mm (16.5 in) in Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z.
A No.30 taper sets the character. Tool holders are light, the tool change is quick, and the spindle accelerates fast, but the machine is not meant for large face mills or deep roughing in steel. Feeler says the QMP-23 and QMP-30 are equipped with 12,000 rpm direct drive spindles, in contrast with the belt type spindles of the larger QMP-32 and QMP-40. The work it suits is drilling, tapping and light milling of aluminium and small steel components in volume.
Its envelope is generous for the taper size. Small-taper drill-and-tap machines often have a short Z stroke, and 510 mm leaves real room for a rotary fixture or a tall part. The table is 650 x 420 mm (25.6 x 16.5 in) with a 300 kg (661 lb) rating, and the magazine holds 20 tools.
Two options named by Feeler extend the range of materials. The series can be equipped with an ultrasonic cutting system, which the maker recommends for brittle or high-hardness materials, and with a 20,000 rpm spindle for small-diameter tools. A pallet-changer version, the QMP-23APC, exists for continuous production.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapid traverse on X, Y and Z
- 12,000 rpm direct drive spindle, with a 20,000 rpm spindle available according to Feeler
- 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z travel, long for a 30-taper machine
- Ultrasonic cutting system offered for brittle or high-hardness materials
- 20-tool magazine and a 650 x 420 mm table
Limitations
- No.30 taper limits tool diameter and cutting load compared with a No.40 machine
- Table load is 300 kg (661 lb)
- The 20,000 rpm spindle and ultrasonic system are options, not part of the base specification
- Spindle power and torque are not shown in the series table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A 7/24 taper No.30 at 12,000 rpm. Feeler describes the spindles of the QMP-23 and QMP-30 as direct drive, and says the machines can also be equipped with a 20,000 rpm spindle to support small-diameter tools and high-speed cutting.
02
580 x 420 x 510 mm (22.8 x 16.5 x 20.1 in), with a 650 x 420 mm (25.6 x 16.5 in) table rated for 300 kg (661 lb). Y travel equals the table depth.
03
The two share travels, table size and load. The VMX-580 uses a No.40 taper with a Z rapid of 32 m/min. The QMP-23 uses a No.30 taper and moves Z at 48 m/min, which favours drilling and tapping cycles over heavier milling.
04
Feeler says the QMP series can be equipped with an ultrasonic cutting system that uses high-frequency vibration to reduce cutting resistance and improve surface finish, and calls it ideal for precision machining of brittle or high-hardness materials.
