Overview
Three optional spindles can turn the Vision Wide SM-3122Y from a roughing machine into a finishing one: a linear way 12,000 rpm built-in spindle, or direct driven spindles at 10,000 rpm or 15,000 rpm. The standard unit is the 6,000 rpm 2-step gear type.
The travels suit either role. X is 3,100 mm (122.0 in) and Y is 2,700 mm (106.3 in), over a 3,300×2,100 mm (129.9×82.7 in) table that carries 14,000 kg (30,864 lb). A car-body die of that size wants both: torque to rough the casting and speed to finish the form.
One machine cannot have both at once, since each of these is a different spindle and the choice is made at order. The geared spindle gives the torque the series is described around. The 15,000 rpm direct driven spindle gives the surface speed small ball mills need. The 12,000 rpm built-in unit sits between them. The motor rating in the table, 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp), is printed once and not broken down by spindle, so ask for the power and torque of the spindle actually quoted.
Coolant through spindle system 20 / 70 bar is an option with any of them. Vision Wide also lists an SM-3122E with identical figures.
