Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VMP-45 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Feeler lists the VMP-45 with a choice no smaller VMP model has: a 7/24 taper in No.40 or No.50. The spindle speed row reads 10,000/4,000 rpm and the tool row 22/24, in the same order as the taper row, which reads as 10,000 rpm and 22 tools for the No.40 spindle and 4,000 rpm and 24 tools for the No.50. Confirm that pairing with the maker; the page does not spell it out.
Either way the frame is the same. Travels are 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in X, 610 mm (24.0 in) in Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) in Z, over a 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) table that carries 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). Rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) on X and Y and 24 m/min (945 ipm) on Z.
The two spindles make two different machines. At 4,000 rpm with a 50-taper, this is a low-speed machine for big face mills, large drills and boring bars in steel and cast iron, and it gives up small-tool work. At 10,000 rpm with a 40-taper it is a general-purpose VMC with an unusually strong table. The 1,500 kg rating and 610 mm of Y suit plates, mold bases and welded frames in both cases.
Feeler's series text speaks of high-strength cast iron, an A-frame column and enlarged base, and of holding precision under long-duration, heavy-load machining. Spindle power and torque for either taper are not in the table, and for a 50-taper purchase those two numbers matter more than any other.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Choice of No.40 or No.50 7/24 taper spindle in the maker's table
- 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) table load on a 1,200 x 600 mm table
- 610 mm (24.0 in) of Y travel covers the 600 mm table depth
- 600 mm of Z travel, up from 505 mm on the VMP-40
- Structure described by Feeler as designed for long-duration, heavy-load machining
Limitations
- The second spindle speed listed is 4,000 rpm, which rules out small tools at efficient cutting speeds
- Z rapid is 24 m/min (945 ipm)
- Tool capacity is 22/24, small for a machine that may run large-part programs
- No power or torque figure for either spindle on the series page

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Either. The table header reads VMP-45 (#40/50) and the taper row reads 7/24 Taper No.40/No.50. Spindle speed is given as 10,000/4,000 rpm and tool capacity as 22/24, which appear to follow the same No.40/No.50 order.
02
1,100 mm (43.3 in) in X, 610 mm (24.0 in) in Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) in Z. The table is 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) and the maximum loading weight is 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).
03
The VMP-50 has 1,300 mm of X travel and a 1,420 x 600 mm table. Y, Z, the 1,500 kg rating, the No.40/No.50 spindle choice, the rapid rates and the tool capacity are the same in Feeler's table.
04
The envelope matches: the VMX-1100 also lists 1,100 x 610 x 600 mm travels, a 1,200 x 600 mm table and 1,500 kg. The VMX-1100 has a 12,000 rpm No.40 spindle only. The VMP-45 adds the No.50 alternative at 4,000 rpm.
