How much does the Feeler VBX-2200 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VBX-2200 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 2,200 mm (86.6 in) of X travel and a table that takes 2,700 kg (5,952 lb), the Feeler VBX-2200 is the largest C-frame box way machine Feeler lists. Y travel is 960 mm (37.8 in) and Z is 800 mm (31.5 in), over a table of 2,400 x 960 mm (94.5 x 37.8 in).
Nearly a metre of Y on a single-column vertical is unusual. Beyond this size, makers normally go to a double-column design, and Feeler's own range does the same. The advantage of staying with a C-frame is access: the table is open on three sides for crane loading, and long parts can overhang the ends. The cost is a long spindle overhang from the column, which is where the extra-wide box ways and Meehanite casting that Feeler describes have to earn their keep.
The header reads VBX-2200 (#40/50) and the taper row 7/24 Taper No.40/No.50. The spindle speed printed for this model does not match the other #40/50 columns and looks like a misprint, so this page gives no speed; get the figure from the maker. The magazine holds 32 tools.
Rapid traverse is 15 m/min (591 ipm) on X and Y and 12 m/min (472 ipm) on Z. Feeler says each guideway is heat treated, precision ground and coated with Turcite B, and that the feed screw system has automatic lubrication. Ask also for machine weight and foundation requirements, which a machine of this size will certainly have and the series page omits.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,700 kg (5,952 lb) table load, the highest in the VBX series
- 2,200 x 960 x 800 mm travels on an open C-frame
- Table of 2,400 x 960 mm with Y travel equal to its depth
- 32-tool magazine and a choice of No.40 or No.50 taper
- Box ways coated with Turcite B on all three axes
Limitations
- Rapids of 15 m/min (591 ipm) on X and Y and 12 m/min on Z
- Feeler's printed spindle speed for this model appears to contain a misprint, so the speed needs confirming
- Long Y reach on a single column places high demands on rigidity at full extension
- No machine weight, power or torque is published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 2,200 mm (86.6 in) in X, 960 mm (37.8 in) in Y and 800 mm (31.5 in) in Z. The table measures 2,400 x 960 mm (94.5 x 37.8 in) and carries up to 2,700 kg (5,952 lb).
02
The value printed in Feeler's table for this model is inconsistent with the other No.40/No.50 columns of the series and has been left off this page. The taper is listed as 7/24 Taper No.40/No.50. Ask the maker for the speeds of each spindle.
03
The VBX-1900 has 1,900 x 860 x 800 mm travels, a 2,100 x 860 mm table rated 2,200 kg and a No.50 spindle at 4,000 rpm. The VBX-2200 adds X and Y travel and load capacity and lists both taper sizes. Rapids and the 32-tool magazine match.
04
Yes. Feeler states that all three axes of the VBX series feature extra-wide box way construction, with guideways heat treated, precision ground and coated with Turcite B, on a Meehanite cast iron body.
