Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler VMX-820APC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Feeler VMX-820APC puts a two-pallet changer on the 820 mm frame of the VMX series. X travel is 820 mm (32.3 in) and Y is 520 mm (20.5 in), as on the fixed-table VMX-820, but Z is 505 mm (19.9 in) rather than 560 mm, and the work sits on a 700 x 500 mm (27.6 x 19.7 in) pallet instead of a 950 x 520 mm table.
Pallet capacity is 200 kg (441 lb). That is a quarter of what the VMX-820 table carries, and it defines the machine: this is for medium-sized light parts, typically aluminium housings and plates on purpose-built fixtures, run in batches where loading time would otherwise idle the spindle. Note that X travel is longer than the pallet. The full 700 mm of pallet length is inside the cutting area with travel to spare, which helps when tools must approach from beyond the fixture edge.
Feeler states that the VMX-580APC and VMX-820APC have automatic pallet changers with exchange times of 6 and 10 seconds, and describes them as reducing non-cutting time for flexible small-batch production.
Spindle and axes follow the mid-size machines of the range: 12,000 rpm, 7/24 No.40 taper, rapids of 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) on X and Y and 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on Z, and a 24-tool magazine. Compared with the smaller pallet machine it offers a much larger pallet and four more tools. The VMX-580APC pallet is 580 x 410 mm and holds 120 kg.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Pallet changer with 700 x 500 mm (27.6 x 19.7 in) pallets, the larger of Feeler's two VMX APC models
- 820 mm of X travel exceeds the 700 mm pallet length, so the whole pallet is within reach
- 24-tool magazine serves both pallets
- 12,000 rpm direct-drive spindle with 7/24 No.40 taper
- Exchange times of 6 and 10 seconds are quoted by Feeler for its two APC models
Limitations
- Pallet load is 200 kg (441 lb) including the fixture, against 800 kg on the VMX-820 table
- Z travel is 505 mm (19.9 in), shorter than the 560 mm of the VMX-820
- Rapids of 40 m/min on X and Y are below the 48 m/min of the VMX-580APC
- The published table has no row for pallet change time, so which quoted figure applies is not stated

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Each pallet measures 700 x 500 mm (27.6 x 19.7 in) and the maximum loading weight in Feeler's table is 200 kg (441 lb). The rating covers fixture and workpiece together, so weigh the fixture before committing a part to this machine.
02
Feeler's table lists 505 mm for the VMX-820APC and 560 mm for the VMX-820 and gives no reason. A pallet and its receiver add height above the base, which commonly costs Z stroke on pallet machines. Check clearance under the spindle with your tallest fixture and longest tool.
03
The VMX-580APC is the smaller, faster option: 580 x 420 x 510 mm travels, 580 x 410 mm pallets rated 120 kg, 48 m/min X and Y rapids and 20 tools. This machine has the bigger pallet, 200 kg capacity and 24 tools, with X and Y rapids of 40 m/min.
04
A 12,000 rpm spindle with a 7/24 taper No.40. The series description calls it a high-speed direct-drive spindle and names it a BBT40 spindle. No power or torque figure appears on the series page.
