How much does the Feeler QMP-30 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler QMP-30 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel, the Feeler QMP-30 is a long-table 30-taper machine, a format chosen for fixture plates that hold many small parts in a row. Y is 420 mm (16.5 in), Z is 510 mm (20.1 in) and the table measures 890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in).
A long X axis only helps a production machine if crossing it is quick. Feeler lists 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) on X, Y and Z, so a move from one end of the fixture to the other takes little more time than on the shorter QMP-23. The spindle is the same on both: 12,000 rpm, 7/24 No.30 taper, described by the maker as direct drive. The magazine holds 20 tools.
Table load is 300 kg (661 lb). For the light work a No.30 spindle does, that is seldom the constraint; fixture stiffness and chip evacuation along a long plate usually are. Z travel of 510 mm also allows a fourth-axis trunnion fixture that swings parts for multi-side drilling, a common setup on machines of this type.
This is the largest QMP with the No.30 direct drive spindle. From the QMP-32 upward the series changes to a No.40 belt type spindle at 10,000 rpm and the Z rapid falls to 30 m/min. Feeler also notes two series options: a 20,000 rpm spindle for small-diameter tools and an ultrasonic cutting system for brittle or high-hardness materials.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 760 mm (29.9 in) of X travel at a 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapid rate
- 890 x 420 mm table for multi-part fixture plates
- 12,000 rpm direct drive spindle, the last model in the series to have it
- Z rapid of 48 m/min, against 30 m/min on the QMP-32
- 510 mm of Z travel allows trunnion-type fixtures
Limitations
- No.30 taper is not suited to heavy milling
- Y travel is 420 mm (16.5 in)
- 20 tools, where the QMP-32 has 24
- Table rating of 300 kg (661 lb) and no published spindle power

760 x 420 x 510 mm (29.9 x 16.5 x 20.1 in), with an 890 x 420 mm (35.0 x 16.5 in) table rated for 300 kg (661 lb).

The spindle and the frame. The QMP-32 has a 7/24 Taper No.40 belt type spindle at 10,000 rpm, 820 x 520 mm X and Y travel, an 800 kg table, 24 tools and a Z rapid of 30 m/min. The QMP-30 keeps the No.30 direct drive spindle at 12,000 rpm and 48 m/min on Z.
03
Feeler says the QMP machines can be equipped with a 20,000 rpm spindle to support small-diameter tools, high-speed cutting and precision machining requirements. The standard figure in the table for the QMP-30 is 12,000 rpm.
04
20 tools. The table does not give a tool-change time or the maximum tool size and weight, which on a No.30 machine are tighter than on a No.40 machine, so check them against your holders.
