Overview

Largest of the three VFP models, the Feeler VFP-1300 carries 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) on a 1,420 x 600 mm (55.9 x 23.6 in) table. Travels are 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in X, 610 mm (24.0 in) in Y and 560 mm (22.0 in) in Z.

Its rapid rates are different on each horizontal axis, which is uncommon. Feeler's table gives 32 m/min (1,260 ipm) for X and 24 m/min (945 ipm) for both Y and Z. On the two smaller VFP models X and Y match. Since the values are printed that way, plan cycle times on the lower Y figure.

Tool capacity is printed as 22 (24), which fits the series description of a 22 or 24-station arm-type magazine as standard, with 30 stations optional and tool change times as fast as 1.7 seconds. The spindle is 10,000 rpm on a 7/24 No.40 taper. Feeler lists a belt-driven spindle as standard and a direct-drive spindle as an option, with speeds up to 15,000 rpm.

The VFP layout puts linear guides on X and Y and a box way on Z. On a machine carrying a tonne and a half, that means the heavy table still moves on low-friction guides while the spindle head, which sees the cutting thrust, slides on a damped way. It is a sensible arrangement for mold bases and plate work with a lot of drilling. Compared with the VMX-1300, the VFP-1300 has less Z, at 560 mm against 600 mm, and a lower spindle speed as standard.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) table load with 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of X travel
  • Box way Z axis and linear guides on X and Y, per Feeler
  • Optional direct-drive spindle, with speeds up to 15,000 rpm quoted for the series
  • Arm-type magazine with tool change times as fast as 1.7 seconds
  • 610 mm of Y travel over a 600 mm deep table

Limitations

  • Y rapid is 24 m/min (945 ipm), lower than the 32 m/min of X
  • Z travel of 560 mm (22.0 in) is less than the 600 mm of the VMX-1300
  • Tool capacity of 22 (24) unless the optional 30-station magazine is ordered
  • Standard spindle is 10,000 rpm and its power is not published

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels and table load of the Feeler VFP-1300?

1,300 x 610 x 560 mm (51.2 x 24.0 x 22.0 in), with a 1,420 x 600 mm (55.9 x 23.6 in) table rated for 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).

02 Why are the X and Y rapid rates different?

Feeler's table prints 32 m/min for X and 24 m/min for Y and for Z on the VFP-1300, without comment. The smaller VFP-1000 lists 36 m/min on both X and Y. Confirm the Y figure with the maker if positioning time is critical.

03 How many tools does it hold?

The table prints 22 (24). Feeler's series text says the machines come standard with a 22 or 24-station arm-type tool magazine, with 30 stations optional, and tool change times as fast as 1.7 seconds.

04 Can it run faster than 10,000 rpm?

With the optional spindle, according to Feeler: spindle configurations include a standard belt-driven spindle and an optional direct-drive spindle, reaching speeds up to 15,000 rpm. The table value for this model is 10,000 rpm.
