Overview

The Campro CNV-850 is the general-purpose size in the CNV series of linear-guide vertical machining centers. It travels 850 mm (33.4 in) in X and 520 mm (20.4 in) in both Y and Z, over a 950 × 520 mm (37.4 in x 20.4 in) table that carries 500 kg (1,102 lb).

This is where the series moves to a heavier casting. The machine weighs 5,000 kg (11,023 lb), against 3,300 kg (7,245 lb) for the CNV-750. T-slots change to 18 mm, five of them, and the arm type magazine goes to 24 tools with 20 as the alternative. The spindle center is 630 mm (24.8 in) from the column.

What stays light is the drive train. Campro states that all axes have precision linear guide ways and direct drive servo motors with couplings, and that Z has no counter-balance. Rapids are 30 m/min in all three axes. The spindle is an 8,000 rpm No.40 taper unit with 7.5 / 11 kW (15 HP), and higher speeds of 10,000, 12,000 and 15,000 rpm are options.

Campro also builds a box-way machine with this X travel. The CPV-850B weighs 6,000 kg (13,227 lb), carries 800 kg (1,763 lb) and has an 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) motor, but its rapids are 20 m/min. The CNV-850 is the quicker and lighter of the two, and the better fit when parts are small-to-medium and cycle time matters more than depth of cut.

It needs 15 kVA and a 2,930 × 2,260 mm (115 in x 88 in) floor plan. The spindle nose range is 110~630 mm; the inch figures Campro prints for that row are inconsistent and are left out.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 850 × 520 × 520 mm of travel with 30 m/min rapids on every axis
  • 24-tool arm type changer as standard
  • Spindle options of 10,000, 12,000 and 15,000 rpm
  • 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) casting, well above the 3,300 kg (7,245 lb) of the CNV-750
  • Modest 15 kVA power capacity for a 24-tool machine

Limitations

  • 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load; the box-way CPV-850B takes 800 kg (1,763 lb)
  • 7.5 / 11 kW (15 HP) spindle motor, less than the 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) of the CPV-850B
  • Chip to chip time of 7 sec
  • Tool length limited to 250 mm (9.8 in) and weight to 7 kg (15 lb)
06

Best For

Job-shop milling of small and medium parts up to 500 kg (1,102 lb) Aluminium work using the higher-speed spindle options Two- and three-vise production setups on a 950 mm (37.4 in) table Shops that value fast rapids over box-way damping

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size parts suit the CNV-850?

The travels are 850 mm (33.4 in), 520 mm (20.4 in) and 520 mm (20.4 in) in X, Y and Z, the table is 950 × 520 mm (37.4 in x 20.4 in) and the load limit is 500 kg (1,102 lb). Spindle nose to table surface is 110~630 mm.

02 Should I buy the CNV-850 or the CPV-850B?

The CNV-850 has linear guide ways, 30 m/min rapids, a 7.5 / 11 kW (15 HP) motor and optional spindles up to 15,000 rpm. The CPV-850B has box ways on 3 axes, 20 m/min rapids, an 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) motor and an 800 kg (1,763 lb) table load. Light, fast work favours the first; heavy cuts the second.

03 How many tools does the CNV-850 carry?
