Overview

At the top of the 750 line, the Biglia B750YS carries everything Biglia offers on this bed at once: Y-axis, driven tools, C-axis on both spindles and a sub-spindle. It is the version for parts that would otherwise visit a lathe twice and a machining centre once.

Start with the numbers that define the work zone. X travel is 305 mm, Y travel 140 mm and Z travel 860 mm. The sub-spindle moves 895 mm on the B-axis at 24 m/min to collect the part, and it is rated like a main spindle: ASA 6" nose, 4,500 rpm, 30-40 kW and 286 Nm with 210-250 mm chucks.

One turret does all of it. Its 16 or 12 stations take turning tools with 25x25 mm shanks or driven tools rated 12/15 kW and 35/37 Nm, and it serves the main spindle first and the sub-spindle second. Station count therefore deserves a hard look when planning a job: front-side turning, back-side turning and the milling tools for both ends all share the same disc.

As on the B750SM, there is no tailstock in the table, since the second spindle occupies the B-axis. The main spindle is a choice of three, from the ASA 6" unit for 70 mm bar to an ASA 8" unit for 93/100 mm bar with 30-38 kW. Biglia lists the B750YS at 7,600 kg with swarf conveyor, the heaviest B750, on the same 528 x 203 cm footprint as the others.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Y-axis (140 mm), sub-spindle and driven tools combined on one machine
  • Sub-spindle with 30-40 kW, 286 Nm and 4,500 rpm for real cutting on the second side
  • C-axis on both spindles, each with a 0.001° minimum programmable value
  • Automatic transfer from main to sub-spindle, described by Biglia as allowing the complete process on both sides
  • Same floor space as the two-axis B750: 528 x 203 cm

Limitations

  • A single turret with 16 or 12 stations has to hold the tools for both spindles
  • No tailstock rows in the table for this version
  • Y rapid is limited to 7.5 m/min
  • Heaviest version of the B750 at 7,600 kg, and the one with the most to program
06

Best For

Complete machining of parts with milled features on both ends Bar-fed production of complex parts up to 70, 80 or 93/100 mm bar Replacing a two-lathe plus mill route with one setup Medium batches where setup count matters more than cycle time

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does YS mean on the B750YS?

Biglia's configuration list gives the B750YS rotary tools at 12/16 positions, a C-axis on the main spindle, a Y-axis and a C-axis on the second spindle. In short, Y stands for the Y-axis and S for the sub-spindle. It is the most fully equipped of the five B750 versions.

02 Can the B750YS support a long shaft with a tailstock?

The table lists no tailstock for the B750YS. The B-axis carries the sub-spindle, which positions over 895 mm. For shaft work that needs a centre, the B750Y has the Y-axis together with the servo tailstock and its 910 mm of positioning.

03 How many tools can the B750YS use?

The turret is listed with 16/12 stations, all of which can be live. Turning tools use 25x25 mm shanks and boring bars 32-40 / 40-50 mm. One position indexes in 0.3 sec. Because the same turret works at both spindles, double holders are worth planning for when the tool list is long.

04 What power does the B750YS have for milling?

Live tooling is listed at 12/15 kW motor power and 35/37 Nm maximum torque. The speed row reads 6,000 / (10,000) rpm, and Biglia notes that standard rotary tools limit the maximum to 6000 rpm. The motor sits in the tool plate and drives the rotary tool directly.

05 How much coolant does the machine carry?

The cooling system rows give a 300 L tank, a pump with a nominal displacement of 60 L/min and a 1.1 kW electropump motor. Medium-pressure coolant supply with a filter is a standard feature, and high pressure coolant is on the options list.
