Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Biglia B620 ASA 6" that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With the ASA 6" spindle the Biglia B620 takes 70 mm (2.8 in) bar and machines up to 360 mm (14.2 in) in diameter over a 620 mm (24.4 in) length. Of the three spindle sizes in Biglia's B620 table this one carries the most motor power, 30 - 40 kW (40.2 - 53.6 hp), and it turns at up to 4,500 rpm.
That combination is why the middle column is the general-purpose choice. The B620 ASA 5" is quicker at 5,000 rpm but stops at 51 mm bar, a 250 mm diameter and 17 - 25 kW. The B620 ASA 8" has more torque, 398 - 700 Nm against 286 Nm here, yet its motor is rated 15 - 22 kW and it tops out at 3,200 rpm. For a shop cutting a mix of steel bar and chucked castings, 286 Nm with 40 kW behind it covers both roughing and finishing speeds without choosing one over the other.
The spindle bore is 77.5 mm, the front bearings measure 110 mm inside, and Biglia lists 210 / 250 mm chucks. If the machine is ordered with the sub-spindle, note that the second spindle is smaller than the main one: ASA 5" nose, 5,000 rpm, 17 - 25 kW, 108 - 159 Nm and 140 / 165 mm chucks, with a 50 mm drawtube. Second-operation cuts have to be planned around that lower rating.
Around the spindle the machine is the same as its siblings: 180 mm of X, 620 mm of Z, a 15-station turret, 300 L of coolant and a spindle centre height of 1,080 mm. Weight with swarf conveyor is 6,650 kg (14,660 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Highest spindle power in the B620 table: 30 - 40 kW (40.2 - 53.6 hp) with 286 Nm (211 lb-ft)
- 70 mm bar capacity and a 360 mm machining diameter while still reaching 4,500 rpm
- 77.5 mm spindle bore and a choice of 210 / 250 mm chucks
- Biglia states the cast-iron bed was reinforced by 20% over the previous design, with roller guideways on Z and box-type guideways on X and Y
- Coolant tank of 300 L with a 60 L/min pump as listed equipment
Limitations
- The sub-spindle is a size smaller than the main spindle: 17 - 25 kW and 108 - 159 Nm, with 140 / 165 mm chucks
- X travel is 180 mm (7.1 in), so the 360 mm machining diameter leaves little room for long boring bars at full diameter
- Less low-speed torque than the B620 ASA 8", which lists 398 - 700 Nm
- The table gives one weight and one set of dimensions per spindle size, not per version, so check the figures for a sub-spindle or Y-axis machine

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It sits between them on capacity and above both on power. The B620 ASA 5" has 51 mm bar capacity, 5,000 rpm and 17 - 25 kW. The B620 ASA 8" has 80 mm bar capacity, 3,200 rpm, 15 - 22 kW and 398 - 700 Nm. The ASA 6" column lists 70 mm bar, 4,500 rpm, 30 - 40 kW and 286 Nm. All three share the 620 mm machining length and 700 mm swing.
02
No. Biglia's table gives a single sub-spindle for every B620: ASA 5" nose, 59.5 mm bore, 50 mm drawtube inside diameter, 5,000 rpm, 17 - 25 kW and 108 - 159 Nm, with 140 / 165 mm chucks. On this machine the main spindle is rated 30 - 40 kW and 286 Nm, so the heavier cuts belong on the first operation.
03
X is 180 mm and Z is 620 mm, with rapids of 18 m/min and 30 m/min. Versions with a Y-axis have +45 / -45 mm of Y at 18 m/min. The B-axis row gives 620 mm of stroke; the table prints 30 m/min for it under the axes heading and 18 m/min under the tailstock heading, so ask Biglia which applies to the tailstock and which to the sub-spindle.
04
The brochure's standard features include a rigid cast-iron bed, synchronous integral spindle motors, the 15 position servo turret with direct drive to the driven tools, rigid tapping, a CNC automatic tailstock, a parts catcher and bar-feeder interface, a chip conveyor with medium-pressure coolant and filter, an air-conditioned electrical cabinet and a CNC with 15" touch screen. Which of these apply depends on the version.
