Overview

Rotary tools and a C-axis are what the Biglia B750M adds to the B750 turning centre. Every station of the 16 or 12 position servo turret can carry a driven tool, the main spindle indexes as a C-axis with a minimum programmable value of 0.001°, and the CNC tailstock of the base machine stays in place.

Biglia gives the live tooling as 12/15 kW and 35/37 Nm, with a maximum speed of 6,000 / (10,000) rpm. The bracket matters. A footnote in the brochure says standard rotary tools limit the speed to 6000 rpm, so the higher figure needs holders made for it. The drive is a motor built into the tool plate that turns the tool directly, and Biglia calls this the main feature of the turret.

There is no Y-axis on this version. Milling is done with X, Z and C only, which suits cross holes, bolt circles and keyways on the centreline. Features that sit off-centre need the 140 mm of Y travel that the B750Y provides.

The turning side is unchanged. Travels are 305 mm on X and 860 mm on Z, machining length is 765 mm with a Ø 250 mm chuck, and there are three main spindles, from 70 mm bar at 4,500 rpm to 93/100 mm bar with 800-1,014 Nm. The servo tailstock positions over 910 mm, so a shaft can be turned between centres and then cross-drilled in the same clamping. Weight with swarf conveyor is 7,350 kg.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Driven tools at 16 or 12 stations with 12/15 kW and 35/37 Nm available
  • C-axis on the main spindle with 0.001° minimum programmable value and a 100 rpm rapid
  • Keeps the B-axis CNC tailstock, with 910 mm of positioning and MT 4-5 centres
  • Direct drive from a motor in the tool plate to the rotary tool, with no gear train in between according to Biglia
  • Three spindle choices up to 93/100 mm bar and 30-38 kW

Limitations

  • No Y-axis, so off-centre milling and true flats across a diameter are outside its range
  • Standard rotary tools are limited to 6,000 rpm; the 10,000 rpm figure is printed in brackets
  • No sub-spindle: back-face work means a second setup
  • Live tool torque of 35/37 Nm is suited to drilling and light milling more than heavy slotting
06

Best For

Shafts needing cross holes or keyways after turning Flanges with bolt-circle drilling and tapping on the face Long parts that need tailstock support during milling Shops moving simple second-operation milling onto the lathe

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the B750M and the B750?

The B750M has rotary tools and a C-axis; the B750 has neither. Both keep the CNC automatic tailstock, the 305 mm and 860 mm travels and the same three main spindles. Biglia lists the B750M at 7,350 kg and the B750 at 7,250 kg, each with swarf conveyor.

02 How fast can the live tools on the B750M run?

The table prints 6,000 / (10,000) rpm. Biglia's footnote explains the bracket: maximum spindle speed is limited to 6000 rpm by standard rotary tools. Motor power is given as 12/15 kW and maximum torque as 35/37 Nm. Plan cutting data around 6,000 rpm unless higher-speed holders are specified with the machine.

03 Can the B750M mill off-centre features?

Not with a linear axis. This version has X, Z and C but no Y travel. For off-centre work Biglia offers the B750Y, which adds 140 mm of Y travel at a rapid of 7.5 m/min and keeps the tailstock, and the B750YS, which pairs the Y-axis with a second spindle.

04 How many tools does the B750M turret hold?

Biglia lists the servo turret with 16 or 12 stations, printed as 16/12, and the same number of live tool positions. Turning tools use 25x25 mm shanks and boring bars 32-40 / 40-50 mm. Indexing takes 0.3 sec for one position. A comprehensive tooling package is named among the standard features.
