Overview

The AWEA MVP-5032 carries 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) on a 5,020 x 2,400 mm (197.6 x 94.5 in) table, and that rating is the main reason to pick it over the shorter MVP-4032, which is listed at 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). It is a double column bridge machine with a moving cross rail and a spindle head that cuts both vertically and horizontally. Travels are 5,000 mm (196.9 in) in X, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in Z.

How the table is carried matters at this weight. AWEA supports it on 4 heavy duty guide-way rails: two linear guide ways and two box ways. The columns stand 2,700 mm (106.3 in) apart, which is the real limit on part width, not the table.

Speed is where the extra metre of bed shows. X rapid traverse falls to 10 m/min (394 ipm) from the 15 m/min (591 ipm) of the MVP-4032, while Y stays at 12 m/min (472 ipm) and Z at 10 m/min (394 ipm). Cutting feed is 5 m/min (197 ipm) on every model, so the difference appears in positioning moves between features and not in the cut. Accuracy widens a little too: P = 0.030 mm over full travel under VDI, with repeatability of P = 0.022 mm.

Above the table nothing changes from the siblings. The cross rail moves 1,250 mm (49.2 in) on W at 3 m/min (118 ipm). A 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) BT 50 spindle turns at 10 ~ 4,000 rpm vertically and 20 ~ 3,000 rpm horizontally, and the magazine holds 60 tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 20 kg (44 lb) each.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) table load on a 5,020 x 2,400 mm (197.6 x 94.5 in) table
  • Table carried on 4 heavy duty guide-way rails, two linear guide ways and two box ways
  • 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X travel at 75,000 kg (165,344 lb), lighter than the 80,000 kg (176,367 lb) MVP-6032
  • Y rapid of 12 m/min (472 ipm), faster than the 10 m/min (394 ipm) of the MVP-5040
  • 60-tool magazine taking tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) and 20 kg (44 lb)

Limitations

  • X rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm), down from 15 m/min (591 ipm) on the MVP-4032
  • No X-axis ball screw vibration damping mechanism: AWEA fits it to 6 m travel and above models only
  • Table load stops at 18,000 kg (39,683 lb); the MVP-6032 is rated 20,000 kg (44,092 lb)
  • Needs an 80 KVA three-phase supply and 5 ~ 8 kg/cm² air

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much can the MVP-5032 table hold?

18,000 kg (39,683 lb) on a table of 5,020 x 2,400 mm (197.6 x 94.5 in). The MVP-4032 is listed at 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), and the MVP-6032, MVP-7032 and MVP-8032 at 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). AWEA states the working table is fully supported by 4 guide-way rails, two of them linear guide ways and two box ways.

02 Is the MVP-5032 slower than the MVP-4032?

Only in X rapid traverse: 10 m/min (394 ipm) against the 15 m/min (591 ipm) of the MVP-4032. Y at 12 m/min (472 ipm), Z at 10 m/min (394 ipm), W at 3 m/min (118 ipm) and the 5 m/min (197 ipm) cutting feed rate are the same on both machines.

03 What size of tool fits the magazine?

The table lists a 60 T magazine with a maximum tool diameter of Ø127 / Ø215 mm (Ø5.0 / Ø8.5 in), a maximum length of 400 mm (15.7 in) and a maximum weight of 20 kg (44 lb). The taper is BT 50. Tools are exchanged for the vertical or the horizontal spindle at any W-axis position.

04 Which control does the MVP-5032 use?

AWEA names the FANUC Oi-MD as the standard CNC control and says other controllers are also available. A Five Sided Coordinate Conversion System is listed as standard, which is the function that carries work coordinates from the top face to the side faces.
