Overview

The Zayer TEBAS is the heavy bridge type machine of the range: a fixed cross beam, a moving table rated for 20,000 kg (44,092 lb), and 43 kW (57.7 hp) as the base power with 60 kW (80.5 hp) optional. Zayer's heading for it is large roughings with control.

X travel is 4,000, 5,000 or 6,000 mm (157.5, 196.9 or 236.2 in), on tables of 4,100, 5,100 or 6,100 mm (161.4, 200.8 or 240.2 in). Y travel is 3,750 mm (147.6 in) and can be 4,250 or 4,750 mm (167.3 or 187.0 in). Z starts at 1,250 mm (49.2 in), with 1,500, 1,750 and 2,000 mm (59.1, 68.9 and 78.7 in) as options. The columns stand 3,000 mm (118.1 in) apart, or 3,500 or 4,000 mm (137.8 or 157.5 in), and the table is 2,200 mm (86.6 in) wide, optionally 2,500 or 3,000 mm (98.4 or 118.1 in).

The drives show how the machine is meant to be used. The longitudinal axis is a rack with a double motor and pinion, the cross axis a two-motor rack and pinion, and the vertical axis a pair of ball screws with a double compensation system, a symmetric arrangement Zayer credits with greater thermal stability. Rapid feed reaches up to 50,000 mm/min (1,969 ipm) and working feed up to 45,000 mm/min (1,772 ipm), well above the 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) of the ARION.

Change of heads is standard here, where it is an option on the ARION and ARES. Nine heads are listed: the standard 45º head, and options that include a 30º head with a 33 kW electrospindle, a 40º head with a 42 kW, 15,000 rpm electrospindle, three direct outlet heads and an L shaped head. The magazine holds 30 tools and can be extended to 40, 60, 80 or 120. Machine weight is about 40,000 to 85,000 kg (88,183 to 187,390 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How powerful is the Zayer TEBAS?

Power is listed at 43 kW (57.7 hp), with 60 kW (80.5 hp) as an option. The spindle head runs at 6,000 rpm, or 8,000 rpm optionally. Zayer does not publish a torque figure on the product page.

02 What are the TEBAS travels?

X is 4,000, 5,000 or 6,000 mm (157.5, 196.9 or 236.2 in). Y is 3,750 mm (147.6 in), with 4,250 or 4,750 mm (167.3 or 187.0 in) optional. Z is 1,250 mm (49.2 in), with 1,500, 1,750 or 2,000 mm (59.1, 68.9 or 78.7 in) optional. Maximum distance from table to spindle nose is 1,465 mm (57.7 in), or 1,765 mm (69.5 in) as an option.

03 Is head changing included on the TEBAS?

Yes. The accessory table marks change of heads as standard. Nine heads are listed, with the 45º head standard and the others optional, among them direct outlet heads with reduction or with electrospindle and an L shaped head.

04 How does the TEBAS differ from the TEBAS G?

The TEBAS has a rectangular moving table and X travel of 4,000 to 6,000 mm. The TEBAS G replaces the table with a Ø 2,200 mm (86.6 in) rotary table for milling and turning that travels 2,500 mm (98.4 in), and it is listed with 101 kW (135.4 hp) and 10,000 rpm.

05 How many tools can the TEBAS carry?

The standard magazine holds 30 tools. Options are 40, 60, 80 or 120 tools. A chip conveyor and the coolant tank are standard.
