Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA MCP-12040 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 12,000 mm (472.4 in) of X travel, the AWEA MCP-12040 is the first MCP size longer than anything in AWEA's MVP five-face range, where the MVP-8040 tops out at 8,000 mm (315.0 in). It is the narrow version of the 12,000 mm machine: 4,400 mm (173.2 in) of Y over a table 12,000 x 2,800 mm (472.4 x 110.2 in).
The spindle choice deserves attention on this model because the motor does not change. Every variant in the table is BBT50 with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp). What changes is the drive. AWEA's speed row reads "4,000 Gear Spindle (Std.)", then "5,000 / 6,000 Gear Spindle (Opt.)" and "8,000 / 12,000 Built-in Spindle (Opt.)", printed without a unit. A gear spindle suits steel and cast iron roughing with large cutters. The built-in spindles trade the gearbox for speed, which fits aluminium structures of the kind the maker names when it lists aerospace among the intended industries.
Attachment heads extend the same spindle to the sides of the part. The head changer is automatic and standard, and tools are exchanged at two positions so a head-mounted tool can be swapped as well as a vertical one.
Z travel is 1,400 mm (55.1 in), with 1,600 mm as an option. The headstock runs in a U-shaped saddle on four linear guide ways with ten sliding blocks, a design AWEA says holds accuracy with the headstock fully extended.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Five spindle variants on one BBT50, 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) platform: one standard and two optional gear spindles, two optional built-in spindles
- 12,000 mm (472.4 in) of X, beyond the 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of the MVP-8040
- Automatic head changer as standard, with in-house made attachment heads available
- Headstock in a U-shaped saddle on four linear guide ways and ten sliding blocks
- Tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 20 kg (44 lb)
Limitations
- Motor output stays at 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) whichever spindle is chosen
- The faster gear spindles and both built-in spindles are options; the standard machine has the slowest spindle in the row
- Y travel of 4,400 mm (173.2 in); the MCP-12050 gives 5,400 mm (212.6 in) on the same X
- The maker's table has no torque figure, no table load and no accuracy row

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It depends on material. The standard spindle is the gear type listed as 4,000; optional gear spindles are listed as 5,000 / 6,000 and optional built-in spindles as 8,000 / 12,000 (AWEA prints no unit in that row). All are BBT50 with a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. The table gives no torque values, so ask for the torque curve of each option before deciding.
02
They let the vertical spindle cut the four side faces of a part that stays clamped on the table. On the MCP series an automatic head changer and a two positions ATC system are standard, and AWEA says a new generation of in-house made attachment heads is available. Which heads are included is not in the specification table.
03
X travel is 12,000 mm (472.4 in) on all three. Y is 4,400 mm (173.2 in) on the MCP-12040, 5,400 mm (212.6 in) on the MCP-12050 and 6,400 mm (252.0 in) on the MCP-12060, with tables 2,800 mm, 3,800 mm and 4,800 mm wide. The coolant tank is 3,400 liter here, 4,000 liter on the MCP-12050 and 5,400 liter on the MCP-12060. The MCP-12050 lists a Y rapid of 7.5 m/min (295 ipm) where the other two list 10 m/min (394 ipm).

Ø125 mm (Ø4.9 in) with every pocket filled and Ø200 mm (Ø7.9 in) with the adjacent pockets empty. Length is limited to 400 mm (15.7 in) and weight to 20 kg (44 lb). The magazine is 40T as standard and 60T as an option.
