How much does the AWEA LG-6040 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LG-6040 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA LG-6040 pairs 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X travel with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y, the middle width of three that AWEA offers at this length. Z is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and the fixed table measures 6,000 x 3,800 mm (236.2 x 149.6 in).
Choosing the width is the real decision. The LG-6030 has 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of Y, a 6,000 x 2,800 mm (236.2 x 110.2 in) table and the tighter cross-axis accuracy, P = 0.025 mm on Y and Z. The LG-6050 has 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y and a 6,000 x 4,800 mm (236.2 x 189.0 in) table, but its Y rapid falls to 12 m/min (472 ipm) and its Y and Z positioning to P = 0.040 mm. Between them, this model holds P = 0.030 mm on Y and Z and keeps a 15 m/min (591 ipm) Y rapid. X figures do not vary with width: 20 m/min (787 ipm), P = 0.035 mm, Ps = 0.026 mm.
Usable width is more than Y travel. 4,800 mm passes between the columns, or 4,500 mm with the water eliminator, so a fabrication can overhang the table. A gantry also keeps a machine this wide compact. AWEA says the space usage is 40% less than bridge type models, because the table stays still and no room is needed for it to travel.
The drive is the patented zero backlash rack & pinion with a linear scale, run under AWEA's synchronous servo control. Coolant is held in a separate 1,600 liter tank. Magazine capacity is 32 tools, or 60 as an option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 6,000 x 3,800 mm (236.2 x 149.6 in) fixed table with 4,800 mm between the columns
- Keeps a 15 m/min (591 ipm) Y rapid, where the wider LG-6050 drops to 12 m/min (472 ipm)
- Y and Z positioning of P = 0.030 mm, against P = 0.040 mm on the LG-6050
- Gantry layout that AWEA says uses 40% less space than bridge type models
- Rack and pinion X axis at 20 m/min (787 ipm) with linear scale feedback
Limitations
- Y and Z repeatability of Ps = 0.025 mm; the narrower LG-6030 is listed at Ps = 0.020 mm
- Spindle nose to table distance is 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in), no more than on the narrow models
- The 60-tool magazine is an option; 32 is standard
- All spindle options share one 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor rating

Frequently Asked Questions
01
In width and what follows from it. Y travel is 3,000 mm (118.1 in) on the LG-6030, 4,000 mm (157.5 in) on the LG-6040 and 5,000 mm (196.9 in) on the LG-6050. The LG-6030 has a 1,300 liter coolant tank and P = 0.025 mm positioning on Y and Z; the LG-6050 has 1,900 liter and P = 0.040 mm. This model sits between them at 1,600 liter and P = 0.030 mm. X travel, rapid and accuracy are shared.
02
AWEA does not publish a footprint in the specification, but it states that the gantry type structure uses 40% less space than bridge type models. The reason is the layout: the working table is fixed to the base and the gantry moves, so the machine needs no room for a table to travel.
03
The distance between columns is 4,800 mm, reduced to 4,500 mm when the water eliminator is fitted. Y travel is 4,000 mm (157.5 in) and the table is 3,800 mm (149.6 in) wide, so the spindle cannot reach the full width of a part that fills the opening.
04
On X, yes. AWEA's description of the rack and pinion drive for X travels of 6 m and above includes a high resolution linear scale. With it the table lists X positioning of P = 0.035 mm and repeatability of Ps = 0.026 mm under VDI.
