Overview
The AWEA LG-10050 is the middle of three LG gantry machines with 10,000 mm (393.7 in) of X travel. Its crossbeam gives 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y, the fixed table measures 10,000 x 4,800 mm (393.7 x 189.0 in), and Z travel is 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
Length is not what separates the three, so width decides. The LG-10040 has a 10,000 x 3,800 mm (393.7 x 149.6 in) table and 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y. The LG-10070 has a 10,000 x 6,800 mm (393.7 x 267.7 in) table and 7,000 mm (275.6 in) of Y. Along X all three list the same VDI figures, P = 0.050 mm and Ps = 0.038 mm, with the same 20 m/min (787 ipm) rapid.
Across the beam they differ. Y rapid is 15 m/min (591 ipm) on the LG-10040, 12 m/min (472 ipm) on this machine and 10 m/min (394 ipm) on the LG-10070. The LG-10040 holds P = 0.030 mm on Y/Z over full travel where the LG-10050 lists P = 0.040 mm. With a table this long, several workpieces can be set up in a row and one can be loaded while another is cut, since the table itself never moves. Chips leave by two rotating augers, one down each side of the table, into a separate coolant tank. The magazine stands on the floor behind the machine with 32 pockets, or 60 as an option.
Spindle choices match the other LG sizes: a 4,000 rpm gear spindle as standard with a CAT50 (7 / 24) taper and 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP), plus optional gear and built-in units up to 8,000 rpm.
