Overview

The AWEA MVP-8040 is the top of the MVP range: 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X travel, 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y, and an 8,040 x 3,010 mm (316.5 x 118.5 in) table. It is also the one model whose sheet departs from the pattern of the rest of the series in three rows.

Table load is printed as 25,000 kg (55,115 lb). The MVP-7040 and the MVP-8032 are both listed at 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). Machine weight is 122,000 kg (268,959 lb), where the MVP-7040 is 93,500 kg (206,129 lb). And X rapid traverse is given as 20 m/min (787 ipm), against 7.5 m/min (295 ipm) for the MVP-7040. These are the figures as AWEA prints them for this model, and a buyer for whom the load or the rapid rate decides the purchase should have them confirmed in the quotation.

The remaining rows follow the wide-frame siblings. Y and Z rapid at 10 m/min (394 ipm), the cross rail at 3 m/min (118 ipm) over 1,250 mm (49.2 in) of W. The columns stand 3,500 mm (137.8 in) apart. Listed VDI accuracy is P = 0.040 mm over full travel with P = 0.030 mm repeatability, and the coolant tank holds 1,200 L.

Its spindle is no larger than on the smallest MVP. That means a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor, BT 50 taper, 10 ~ 4,000 rpm vertical and 20 ~ 3,000 rpm horizontal. The table rests on 4 guide-way rails, and the X ball screw has the damping mechanism AWEA fits to its long models.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the maximum table load of the MVP-8040?

AWEA's specification lists 25,000 kg (55,115 lb) on the 8,040 x 3,010 mm (316.5 x 118.5 in) table. Every other MVP model from 6,000 mm of X travel upward, the MVP-8032 included, is listed at 20,000 kg (44,092 lb).

02 How fast does the MVP-8040 traverse?

The listed rapid rates are 20 m/min (787 ipm) in X, 10 m/min (394 ipm) in Y and Z, and 3 m/min (118 ipm) in W. Cutting feed rate is 5 m/min (197 ipm). For comparison, the MVP-8032 is listed at 7.5 m/min (295 ipm) in X and 12 m/min (472 ipm) in Y.

03 How much heavier is it than the MVP-8032?

The MVP-8040 is listed at 122,000 kg (268,959 lb) and the MVP-8032 at 95,000 kg (209,436 lb). Both need AC 220 three-phase power at 80 KVA and 5 ~ 8 kg/cm² air. The MVP-8040 has a 1,200 L coolant tank where the MVP-8032 has 750 L; the hydraulic tank is 290 L on both.

04 Does the bigger machine get a bigger spindle?

No. The spindle rows are the same across the series: BT 50, 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP), 10 ~ 4,000 rpm vertical, 20 ~ 3,000 rpm horizontal. AWEA offers a direct drive spindle or a built-in spindle in place of the standard 2-step gear transmission, and optional extension, 35° angular and universal heads.
