Overview

The Anger Machining VTX-7 II stretches the small VTX frame in X only. Travel is 710 mm (28.0 in) against 510 mm on the VTX-5 II, the table grows to 850x400 mm, and Y and Z stay at 400 mm (15.7 in) and 300 mm (11.8 in).

That shape suits two kinds of job. One is long, narrow parts: rails, covers, heat sinks. The other is several vises or a row of fixtures side by side, so that more pieces are finished per door opening. Table load does not grow with the table, though. It remains 300 kg (661 lb), and the T-slot count stays at three.

Nothing is lost in pace. Rapids are still 60/60/60 m/min with 10/9/12 m/s² of acceleration, and chip-to-chip time is 1.7 s. The direct-drive BBT-30 spindle is listed at 12,000 rpm or 20,000 rpm with 8.5/14.5 kW and 27/46 Nm (S1/S6-25%), fed from a 21-tool magazine.

The longer bed adds length and weight to the machine: 2,100/2,600/2,700 mm (L/W/H) and 3,150 kg (6,944 lb). Connected power is 15 kVA. For parts wider than 400 mm the VTX-10 is the next step, with 500 mm of Y and a 500 kg table load, at slightly lower rapids of 50/50/56 m/min.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 710 mm of X travel on an 850x400 mm table for long parts or multiple fixtures
  • Same 60/60/60 m/min rapids and 1.7 s chip-to-chip time as the VTX-5 II
  • Direct-drive BBT-30 spindle at 12,000 rpm or 20,000 rpm
  • Linear roller guideways and an A-shaped column, as Anger describes the series
  • Siemens, Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls are listed

Limitations

  • Table load stays at 300 kg despite the longer table
  • Y travel of 400 mm and Z travel of 300 mm are unchanged from the VTX-5 II
  • Tools are limited to 3 kg and Ø80 mm
  • Torque of 27/46 Nm restricts it to small cutters

Best For

Long, narrow aluminium parts within 710 mm of X travel Multi-vise setups for small series parts Drilling and tapping cycles with short tool changes Small housings machined several at a time

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the VTX-7 II and the VTX-5 II?

X travel and table length. The VTX-7 II has 710 mm of X travel and an 850x400 mm table; the VTX-5 II has 510 mm and a 600x400 mm table. At 2,100 mm in length and 3,150 kg it is longer and heavier than the VTX-5 II, which is 1,700 mm long and weighs 2,850 kg. Spindle, magazine, rapids and table load are identical.

02 How much weight can the table take?

300 kg (661 lb), the same as the shorter model. The table is 850x400 mm with three T-slots 18 mm wide. Spread across several fixtures that is usually enough for aluminium parts, but a row of steel vises uses the allowance quickly.

03 What spindle does the VTX-7 II have?

A direct-drive BBT-30 spindle with a long-neck design. The table lists 12,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm, 8.5/14.5 kW and 27/46 Nm (S1/S6-25%). Anger says the spindle uses large-diameter steel ball bearings for radial rigidity.

04 How many tools does it hold, and how big?

21 tools. Each can be up to Ø80 mm in diameter, 200 mm long and 3 kg in weight. Chip-to-chip time is 1.7 s at 1,800 rpm. The tool holder is BBT-30.

05 Is a 4th axis possible on the VTX-7 II?

The table lists a 4th/5th axis on the table as an option for all three VTX models. The 710 mm of X travel leaves more room beside a rotary unit than the shortest model does, while Z travel is 300 mm on every VTX.
