Hwacheon VESTA-610D

The Hwacheon VESTA-610D is a 40-taper vertical that carries two tables instead of one: each is 650 x 450 mm (25.6 x 17.7 in) and rated 300 kg (661 lb), with three 18 x 150 mm (0.71 x 5.91 in) T-slots. The machine travels 610 mm (24.0 in) in X, 430 mm (16.9 in) in Y and 570 mm (22.4 in) in Z, and rapids at 40 / 40 / 40 m/min (1,575 / 1,575 / 1,575 ipm).

Two tables mean two fixtures on the machine at once, which suits running two operations of the same part, or two different parts, from one setup. Because the X stroke of 610 mm is shorter than the two tables together, check with Hwacheon how the tables are presented to the spindle and how a fixture plan will map onto them before you design the workholding.

Three spindle speeds are offered, all direct drive on a BT 40 taper with a Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in) bearing bore, grease lubrication and jacket cooling. The 12,000 and 15,000 rpm versions are rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp). The 10,000 rpm version is the one whose rating varies: 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp) as standard and 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp) with through-spindle coolant, and the table also gives 20.9 / 10.2 kW (28.0 / 13.7 hp) and 17 / 10 kW (22.8 / 13.4 hp) for Siemens and Heidenhain controls, while the control row lists a Fanuc 0i-MF Plus. Through-spindle coolant is optional and raises the machine from 2,691 mm (105.9 in) to 2,938 mm (115.7 in) tall.

The 24-tool memory-random magazine takes MAS-403 BT-40 holders up to 300 mm (11.8 in) long and 8 kg (18 lb), Ø90 mm (Ø3.5 in) with neighbours or Ø150 mm (Ø5.9 in) without. With 570 mm of Z and a spindle nose range of 150 ~ 720 mm (5.9 ~ 28.3 in), there is room for tall fixtures. The spindle centre is 530 mm (20.9 in) from the column.

The machine weighs 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) on a 3,980 x 2,135 mm (156.7 x 84.1 in) footprint and needs 50 kVA and 0.5 ~ 0.7 MPa x 690 NL/min of air. Coolant and hydraulic tanks hold 395 / 15 L (104 / 4 US gal).
