Overview

The Anger Machining TMV 850QII is the smallest TMV vertical machining center: 850 mm (33.5 in) of X travel, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 530 mm (20.9 in) of Z, with a 950x600 mm table rated for 800 kg (1,764 lb).

Y travel equals the 600 mm depth of the table, so a plate that fills the table can be machined edge to edge. Maximum part height is generous as well: the part size row reads 950/600/630 mm.

Anger's table gives the spindle as ranges, because several Fanuc spindles are offered: 7.5-11/12-18.5 kW and 17.9-95.5/35.8-153 Nm, both as S1/S6-60% ratings. The spindle is directly coupled to the motor, and oil-air cooling is optional. The datasheet's speed row is not legible as printed, so ask Anger for the speed of each spindle.

Rapids of 48/48/48 m/min and a 4.3 s chip-to-chip time make the QII models the quick end of the TMV series; the TMV 1350A, with its BBT50 spindle, lists 20/20/15 m/min. The changer holds 24 BBT40 tools up to 125 mm in diameter, 320 mm long and 7 kg. A 4th or 5th axis is optional, and the cast-iron frame weighs in at 5,500 kg (12,125 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Y travel of 600 mm on a 950x600 mm table
  • Table load of 800 kg (1,764 lb) in a 5,500 kg machine
  • Rapids of 48/48/48 m/min on X/Y/Z
  • Spindle torque up to 95.5/153 Nm (S1/S6-60%) depending on the spindle chosen
  • Optional 4th or 5th axis for multi-side work
  • Direct-coupled spindle with optional oil-air cooling

Limitations

  • Magazine holds 24 tools with no larger option listed
  • X travel of 850 mm; longer parts need the TMV 1050QII
  • Chip-to-chip time of 4.3 s is unremarkable for tapping-heavy work
  • BBT40 only; BBT50 starts with the TMV 1350A

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large is the work area of the TMV 850QII?

Travels are 850 mm (33.5 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 530 mm (20.9 in) in Z. The table is 950x600 mm with five 18 mm T-slots and takes 800 kg (1,764 lb). Maximum part size is given as 950/600/630 mm.

02 What spindle power and torque are available?

The table lists ranges: 7.5-11/12-18.5 kW and 17.9-95.5/35.8-153 Nm, each as S1/S6-60%. The block is headed SPINDLES (FANUC), and Anger states that different spindle options are available. Ask which spindle a quotation includes, since the lowest and highest torque figures are far apart.

03 What is the difference between the TMV 850QII and the TMV 1050QII?

Only length. The TMV 1050QII has 1,050 mm of X travel and a 1,100x600 mm table, and is 2,500 mm long and 5,900 kg in weight. This model has 850 mm of X, a 950x600 mm table, 2,200 mm of length and 5,500 kg. Y, Z, spindle data, magazine, rapids and the 800 kg table load are the same.

04 How many tools does it hold?

24 BBT40 tools. A tool may be up to 125 mm in diameter, 320 mm long and 7 kg. Chip-to-chip time is 4.3 s at 1,800 rpm, and Anger describes the changer mechanism as inverter-controlled and low-maintenance.

05 Which voltage does the machine need?

The operating voltage row reads 3x380 V, with 3x220 V noted for the Fanuc version. Total connected power is 30 kVA. Siemens and Fanuc are the two controls listed, and lubrication is given as CL, MQL.
