Overview

The Anger Machining VTX-10 puts 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of X travel and 500 mm (19.7 in) of Y under a BBT-30 spindle. Z stays at 300 mm (11.8 in), as on the whole VTX series, so this is a machine for wide, flat work: plates, covers, housings laid out in rows.

It is the only VTX with a bigger table structure. The table measures 1,100x510 mm with five 18 mm T-slots and carries 500 kg (1,102 lb), where the VTX-5 II and VTX-7 II carry 300 kg on three slots. Machine weight rises accordingly to 4,200 kg (9,259 lb).

The larger moving masses show in the dynamics. Rapids are 50/50/56 m/min and accelerations 8/6/10 m/s², against 60/60/60 m/min and 10/9/12 m/s² on the VTX-5 II. Chip-to-chip time is unchanged at 1.7 s.

Spindle and magazine are the series standard: direct drive, 12,000 rpm or 20,000 rpm, 8.5/14.5 kW and 27/46 Nm (S1/S6-25%), 21 tools up to Ø80 mm and 3 kg. That is a lot of table for a light spindle, which is fine for aluminium plate work and drilling patterns and wrong for heavy milling. The table lists 20 kVA of connected power with the CTS function. A 4th/5th axis on the table is optional.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • X travel of 1,000 mm and Y travel of 500 mm, the largest in the VTX series
  • Table of 1,100x510 mm with a 500 kg load
  • Chip-to-chip time of 1.7 s, the same as the smaller VTX models
  • Rapids of 50/50/56 m/min on X/Y/Z
  • Choice of 12,000 rpm or 20,000 rpm direct-drive spindle

Limitations

  • Z travel is only 300 mm for a table of this size
  • Torque of 27/46 Nm is low for the size of part the table accepts
  • Slower than the VTX-5 II and VTX-7 II, which list 60/60/60 m/min
  • Tool weight is limited to 3 kg and tool length to 200 mm

Best For

Aluminium plates and covers up to 1,100/510/300 mm Drilling and tapping patterns over a large flat area Rows of small parts on a long table Electronic housings in series production

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the VTX-10 table?

1,100x510 mm, with five T-slots 18 mm wide and a maximum load of 500 kg (1,102 lb). The maximum part size is 1,100/510/300 mm. Travels are 1,000 mm in X, 500 mm in Y and 300 mm in Z.

02 Is the VTX-10 as fast as the smaller VTX machines?

Not quite in the axes. It lists 50/50/56 m/min and 8/6/10 m/s², where the VTX-5 II lists 60/60/60 m/min and 10/9/12 m/s². The tool change is the same: chip-to-chip time is 1.7 s at 1,800 rpm on all three.

03 What spindle and tools does it use?

A direct-drive BBT-30 spindle, listed at 12,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm with 8.5/14.5 kW and 27/46 Nm (S1/S6-25%). The magazine holds 21 tools, each up to Ø80 mm in diameter, 200 mm long and 3 kg.

04 What power supply does the VTX-10 need?

The operating voltage is 3x380 V. Total connected power is given as 20 kVA with the note (with CTS function), compared with 15 kVA for the VTX-5 II and VTX-7 II. Ask Anger what the figure is without that function if the supply is tight.

05 Which controls can be ordered?

Siemens, Fanuc and Mitsubishi are listed for the whole VTX series. The spindle block of the table is headed SPINDLE (SIEMENS), so the spindle ratings shown may belong to that control variant; confirm the figures for the control you choose.
