Overview
The longest bed in the UT-300 range belongs to the Accuway UT-300LX3: 3,182 mm (125.3 in) of Z travel and a maximum turning length of 3,100 mm (122.0 in), or 3,020 mm (118.9 in) when an A2-11 spindle is chosen. It is a three-metre shaft lathe built on a 500 mm (19.7 in) turning diameter.
Nothing about the cross-section grows with the length. X travel is 300 mm (11.8 in), swing over the saddle is 400 mm (15.7 in), and the turret is the 12-station BOT unit of the short machines. So this is a machine for long, fairly slim work: propeller shafts, lead screws, long rolls. Parts that are both long and large in diameter belong on the UT-400 or UT-600 beds.
Expect unhurried positioning. Z rapid traverse is 10 m/min (394 in/min), the lowest in the series, and less than half the 24 m/min (945 in/min) of the UT-300LX. A full-length return stroke therefore takes a noticeable part of a short cycle.
The machine weighs 11,000 kg (24,250 lb) and is 7 x 2.3 x 2.2 m (275.6 x 90.6 x 86.6 in). Tailstock body travel is 3,040 mm (119.7 in), with a quill stroke of 120 mm (4.7 in). At this length a steady rest is close to a necessity, and it is listed only as an optional accessory, along with a linear scale and an auto door.
