Overview
With 1,750 mm (68.9 in) of Z travel, the Accuway UT-300LX is the first UT-300 bed that Accuway treats as a dedicated shaft machine. The option list changes to match: bar feeder, parts catcher and gantry loader disappear from it, and a steady rest appears.
Maximum turning length is 1,680 mm (66.1 in) with an A2-8 spindle nose, or 1,600 mm (63.0 in) with A2-11, and the turning diameter is 500 mm (19.7 in). The casting is wider as well as longer. Where the UT-300L measures 1.8 m across, the UT-300LX is 5.2 x 2.3 x 2.2 m (204.7 x 90.6 x 86.6 in) and weighs 7,500 kg (16,534 lb).
One figure does not fall off with the extra length. Z rapid traverse is still 24 m/min (945 in/min), the same as the short-bed models, while the next size up drops to 15 m/min (591 in/min) on the UT-300LX2. For a shop whose shafts fit inside 1,680 mm, that makes the LX the quicker machine between cuts.
The tailstock body moves over 1,540 mm (60.6 in), and its MT#5 quill is 110 mm (4.3 in) in diameter. Tooling is a 12-station BOT turret. Spindle choice follows the series: 75 mm (3.0 in) to 116.5 mm (4.6 in) of bar capacity, 3,500 rpm down to 2,000 rpm, on a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor with 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) shown in brackets. No rotary tool rows are given.
