Overview
Long shafts often carry a keyway, a cross hole or a wrench flat, and the Accuway UT-200LM is the long-bed UT-200 that can cut them. It has 1,050 mm (41.3 in) of Z travel, a 900 mm (35.4 in) maximum turning length and a 12-station turret with rotary tools running to 6,000 rpm.
The turret is a BMT/VDI type with servo mechanical drive, and the rotary tool power row reads 3.7/5.5 kW (5.0/7.4 hp). Maximum turning diameter is 260 mm (10.2 in). Compared with the UT-200L, which has no rotary tools and turns 300 mm (11.8 in), the driven turret reduces the turning diameter and shortens the turning length from 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
Work is supported by a tailstock whose body travels 1,045 mm (41.1 in). Milling a keyway halfway along a metre-long shaft with the centre engaged is exactly the job this layout is for. Since the table shows no Y axis, such features are cut on the centreline.
Spindle columns run from A2-5 with a 6 in chuck and 6,000 rpm to A2-8 with a 10 in chuck, a 75 mm (3.0 in) bar and 3,500 rpm; in that last column the turning length is 820 mm (32.3 in).
