Overview
The Accuway UT-600LX4 is the top of the UT range: 900 mm (35.4 in) of turning diameter, 3,950 mm (155.5 in) of turning length and 21,000 kg (46,296 lb) of machine.
Z travel is 4,100 mm (161.4 in). X travel is 470 mm (18.5 in), a little shorter than the 495 mm (19.5 in) of the UT-600LX3 and the other beds in the series; the page gives no reason. Turning length and tailstock body travel are printed as the same figure, 3,950 mm (155.5 in).
Very few shops need this envelope every day. Those that do, in steel mills, shipyards, oilfield supply and heavy repair, usually have parts that weigh tonnes and take hours per operation. For that kind of work the 6 m/min (236 in/min) Z rapid is of little consequence. A secure setup matters more: a 160 mm (6.3 in) quill on an MT#6 centre, box guideways, and a steady rest from the option list.
The headstock is offered in five sizes. A2-15 noses carry the three smaller chucks with bores of 205 mm (8.1 in), 235 mm (9.3 in) or 258 mm (10.2 in). A2-20 noses carry a 32 in chuck with a 320 mm (12.6 in) or 375 mm (14.8 in) bore, at 400 rpm and 300 rpm. Power is 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) through a 2-step gearbox.
