Overview

Box ways and a BT50 spindle make the Accuway UM-120WB the heavy-cut member of the 1,200 mm class. The guideway bearing type row reads Box, rapid traverse is 24 m/min (945 in/min) on X, Y and Z, and the spindle is the 6,000 rpm, 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) unit with a 90 mm (3.5 in) bearing inner diameter.

The two letters each name one choice. W is the 50-taper head shared with the UM-120W. B is the box-way base, as on the BT40 UM-120B. Here both come together, which is the combination that a shop roughing steel plate or cast iron usually asks for: a taper that holds a large cutter and ways that damp the cut.

Travels are 1,200 mm (47.2 in), 650 mm (25.6 in) and 600 mm (23.6 in). The table is 1,300 x 650 mm (51.2 x 25.6 in), so it extends beyond the X stroke and leaves room for clamps at the ends. T-slots are 18 mm on a 120 mm pitch, five of them, and the load limit is 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). Spindle nose to table is 150~750 mm (5.9~29.5 in).

The drive is belt as listed, with a 2-step gear box among the options. For the lowest speeds and the largest drills that option matters more on this machine than on any roller-guide sibling. Tools may weigh 15 kg (33 lb). Net weight is 8,000 kg (17,637 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the UM-120WB and the UM-120W?

The guideways and what follows from them. The UM-120W lists Roller guideway bearings and 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) rapids with a 1,200 x 650 mm table. The UM-120WB lists Box, 24 m/min (945 in/min) and a 1,300 x 650 mm (51.2 x 25.6 in) table. Spindle, travels and weight are the same.

02 What spindle does the Accuway UM-120WB have?

A belt-driven BT50 spindle at 6,000 rpm with a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor, continuous and 30 min ratings, and a 90 mm (3.5 in) bearing inner diameter. Spindle oil cooling is standard. A 2-step gear box is an optional accessory.

03 What is the tool capacity of the UM-120WB?

The magazine row reads 24 (32), with an arm type exchange. Each tool can be up to 300 mm (11.8 in) long and 15 kg (33 lb), and 210 mm (8.3 in) in diameter if the adjacent pockets are empty.

04 Which control does the UM-120WB run?

A FANUC 0i-M. The standard accessories list gives the controller with AICC II, although the AI contour control row of the table prints AICC I. An RJ-45 interface, rigid tapping and a 10.4" colored LCD monitor are also standard.
