Overview
Accuway's UM-120W is a 50-taper vertical machining center with a square-ish envelope: 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X, 650 mm (25.6 in) of Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z. The 1,200 x 650 mm (47.2 x 25.6 in) table has the same plan dimensions as the X and Y strokes.
Compared with the UM-110W it is wider in Y, longer in Z and heavier, at 8,000 kg (17,637 lb), yet the table load is the same 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). The gain is reach, not capacity. Spindle nose to table runs 130~730 mm (5.1~28.7 in), which leaves room for a long BT50 boring bar above a fixture.
The head is common to the belt-drive BT-50 machines. It turns 6,000 rpm on a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor, continuous and 30 min, with a 90 mm (3.5 in) bearing inner diameter. Speed that low suits cutters of large diameter, and the changer is sized for them: 105 mm (4.1 in) with a full magazine and 210 mm (8.3 in) when adjacent pockets are empty, at up to 15 kg (33 lb) each.
Axes run on roller guideways at 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) with 45/45/45 mm (1.8/1.8/1.8 in) ball screws. If sliding ways are preferred, the UM-120WB offers them on these travels at lower rapids. Standard equipment includes a FANUC 0i-M with AICC II, rigid tapping and a spindle oil cooling system.
