Overview

The Accuway UM-60 is the smallest of the maker's BT40 vertical machining centers: 600 mm (23.6 in) of X travel, 520 mm (20.5 in) of Y and 540 mm (21.3 in) of Z over a 750 x 560 mm (29.5 x 22.0 in) table. The control is a FANUC 0i-M, and the standard accessories list pairs it with AICC II.

Table load is 750 kg (1,653 lb). That is generous for a table this size, so a pair of vises or a 4th axis rotary table (an optional accessory, as is its interface) still leaves capacity for the part. The spindle nose sits 150~690 mm (5.9~27.2 in) above the table, which matters once a rotary table and a tall fixture are stacked under it.

The spindle runs to 10,000 rpm on a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor, continuous and 30 min ratings. Accuway prints 12,000 rpm in brackets beside the speed and lists spindle speed upgrading as an option; the drive row reads Belt (Direct). Unlike the UM-85, this table shows no bracketed motor alternative, so 11 kW is the ceiling on paper.

X and Y rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 in/min), with Z at 30 m/min (1,181 in/min). Ball screws are 40/40/40 mm (1.6/1.6/1.6 in) on ball-type guideways, and roller type guide way is an option. The arm type changer holds 24 tools up to 75 mm (3.0 in) in diameter, 300 mm (11.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb). The machine weighs 5,000 kg (11,023 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 36 m/min (1,417 in/min) rapids on X and Y, with 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) on Z
  • 750 kg (1,653 lb) table load on a 750 x 560 mm (29.5 x 22.0 in) table
  • Rigid tapping, spindle oil cooling system, cutter air blast and a 4-bar coolant system are standard accessories
  • Compact for a BT40 machine: 2 x 2.6 x 2.8 m (78.7 x 102.4 x 110.2 in) and 5,000 kg (11,023 lb)

Limitations

  • 600 mm (23.6 in) of X travel is the shortest in the UM range
  • Spindle motor is 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) with no bracketed higher rating in the table
  • The magazine row shows 24 tools only, without the larger capacities printed for the UM-85
  • Chain type chip conveyor, 20 bar coolant through spindle and the tool setter are optional accessories

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels and table size of the Accuway UM-60?

X is 600 mm (23.6 in), Y is 520 mm (20.5 in) and Z is 540 mm (21.3 in). The table measures 750 x 560 mm (29.5 x 22.0 in), carries 750 kg (1,653 lb) and has 5 T-slots, 18 mm wide on a 100 mm pitch.

02 What spindle does the UM-60 have?

A BT40 spindle listed at 10,000 rpm, with 12,000 rpm printed in brackets and spindle speed upgrading among the options. The motor is rated 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp), continuous and 30 min. The bearing inner diameter is 70 mm (2.8 in) and a spindle oil cooling system is standard.

03 How does the UM-60 differ from the UM-75?

Only in X and what follows from it. The UM-75 has 750 mm (29.5 in) of X travel and a 900 x 560 mm (35.4 x 22.0 in) table, against 600 mm and 750 x 560 mm here. Y, Z, the spindle, the rapids and the 750 kg table load are the same on both.

04 Which control and accessories come with the UM-60?

A FANUC 0i-M controller with AICC II, an RJ-45 interface, rigid tapping, a 10.4" colored LCD monitor, cutter air blast, a spray gun and a three-color warning light are all on the standard list. A data server, linear scales, a workpiece touch probe and a contact tool setter are options.
