How much does the Zayer KRONOS cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Zayer KRONOS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Zayer KRONOS is a moving column milling machine built as a closed cell. A complete enclosure with ceiling is standard, and Zayer describes the machining area as sealed, for a clean work environment. Inside it the column travels from 3,000 mm (118.1 in) to 7,000 mm (275.6 in) along X, depending on the length ordered.
Compared with the KAIROS, the envelope is deliberately bounded. Cross travel is 1,200 mm (47.2 in) with 1,600 mm (63.0 in) optional, and vertical travel is 1,600 mm (63.0 in) with 2,000 mm (78.7 in) optional; the KAIROS lists vertical options to 7,000 mm (275.6 in). A machine of fixed, moderate height is what makes a roof practical.
Zayer calls it a multitasking machine. The accessory table lists a rotary table for milling and turning as an option, alongside a fixed floor table, and the description mentions an integrated rotary table with turning and 5-axis machining among the applications. Twelve heads are listed: the standard 45º automatic head, and options that include a high torque 45º head, direct outlet heads with electrospindle or with reduction, L shaped heads and a 40º head with a 42 kW, 15,000 rpm electrospindle.
Axis rates differ by axis: 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) rapid feed on the rack-driven longitudinal axis and 35,000 mm/min (1,378 ipm) on the ball screw cross and vertical axes, with working feeds of 25,000 and 30,000 mm/min (984 and 1,181 ipm). Power is 41 kW (55.0 hp), or 61 kW (81.8 hp) as an option. One point to check: the specification table lists magazine options up to 100 tools, while the accessory table on the same page stops at 80. The standard magazine is 30 tools in both.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Complete enclosure with ceiling and a sealed machining area as standard
- Optional rotary table for milling and turning, for multitasking on one machine
- Twelve listed heads, including a high torque 45º head and a direct outlet head with electrospindle
- Longitudinal travel from 3,000 mm (118.1 in) to 7,000 mm (275.6 in)
- A longitudinal goose neck chip conveyor is standard
Limitations
- Vertical travel tops out at 2,000 mm (78.7 in), and that is an option
- X travel ends at 7,000 mm (275.6 in); longer beds are KAIROS territory
- Zayer's two tables on the page disagree on the largest optional tool magazine
- No table size, table load or machine weight is published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. Zayer marks the complete enclosure with ceiling as standard equipment and describes the machine as having a sealed machining area for a clean work environment. A longitudinal goose neck chip conveyor and the coolant tank are standard as well.
02
Longitudinal travel runs from 3,000 mm (118.1 in) to 7,000 mm (275.6 in). Cross travel is 1,200 mm (47.2 in), or 1,600 mm (63.0 in) as an option. Vertical travel is 1,600 mm (63.0 in), or 2,000 mm (78.7 in) as an option.
03
With the right option. The accessory table lists a rotary table for milling and turning as optional equipment, and Zayer's description speaks of an integrated rotary table and applications that include turning and 5-axis machining. No table diameter, speed or load is published, so ask for them.
04
30 tools as standard. For the options the page is inconsistent: the specification table lists 40, 60, 80 and 100, and the accessory table lists 40, 60 and 80. Confirm the largest magazine with Zayer.
05
Rapid feed is 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) on the longitudinal axis and 35,000 mm/min (1,378 ipm) on the cross and vertical axes. Working feed is 25,000 mm/min (984 ipm) and 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) respectively. Positioning accuracy is listed at 0.008/4,000 mm and repeatability at 0.005/4,000 mm.
