How much does the Juaristi MX5-RAM cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Juaristi MX5-RAM that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Juaristi MX5-RAM is a travelling column boring-milling center, the smallest of the three MX-RAM sizes. It combines a 460 x 520 mm RAM on a Z stroke of 1,200 mm (47.2 in) with a boring bar of 130-160 mm that feeds a further 800 mm (31.5 in) on W.
Those two strokes add up in use. The RAM brings the head to the part and the bar goes on from there, so the tool can work well beyond the column face while short milling tools still have the RAM's support behind them. Vertical travel starts at 2,000 mm and extends in 500 mm steps to 4,000 mm. X is 4,000 mm plus N x 2,000 mm.
It shares its frame size with the MX5 milling machine but not its spindle. The MX5 runs milling heads at 5,000 – 6,000 min-1; the MX5-RAM drives its bar at 3,500–3,000 min-1 with 37/46 kW and 1,850-2,250 Nm (1,365-1,660 lb-ft) through 2 ranges. More torque, less speed, and a Z stroke of 1,200 mm where the MX5 has 1,500 mm, because part of the reach now comes from the bar.
Rapid feeds are 35-30-30-15 m/min for X, Y, Z and W, the quickest row in the MX-RAM table. Milling heads remain available: Juaristi lists universal, vertical and orthogonal heads for the series, with head magazines of up to 10 automatic change positions.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Boring bar of 130-160 mm with 800 mm of W travel on top of a 1,200 mm RAM stroke
- Rapid feeds of 35-30-30-15 m/min, the fastest of the MX-RAM sizes
- Spindle torque of 1,850-2,250 Nm with 2 ranges and a cooled gearbox
- Modular X from 4,000 mm in 2,000 mm sections; Y from 2,000 mm to 4,000 mm
- Box-in-box column with 4-sided RAM guiding, per the maker
Limitations
- Head power of 37/46 kW is the lowest in the MX-RAM table
- Vertical travel ends at 4,000 mm; the MX7-RAM continues to 6,000 mm
- Spindle speed of 3,500–3,000 min-1 limits small-tool milling unless a milling head is fitted
- No tool taper, accuracy or weight rows in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Two strokes work in line. The RAM (Z) travels 1,200 mm (47.2 in) and the boring bar (W) another 800 mm (31.5 in). The RAM section is 460 x 520 mm and the bar diameter 130-160 mm.
02
Head power is 37/46 kW (49.6/61.7 hp), spindle torque 1,850-2,250 Nm and spindle speed 3,500–3,000 min-1, with 2 ranges. The table does not link the two bar diameters to particular power, torque or speed values.
03
The MX5 is the milling machine: milling heads only, a 1,500 mm RAM stroke and speeds of 5,000 – 6,000 min-1. The MX5-RAM adds a boring bar with a W axis, lists a 1,200 mm RAM stroke and runs at 3,500–3,000 min-1 with higher torque. Column, RAM section and Y range are the same in both tables.
04
X is given as 4,000 mm plus N x 2,000 mm, so the bed is extended in 2,000 mm sections with no maximum printed. Juaristi states the series works with rotary tables of 8 to 180 tonne capacity.
