Overview

The Zayer XIOS G is the XIOS bed type machine with a rotary table in place of the plain moving table. The table is 1,500 x 1,500 mm (59.1 x 59.1 in) or 2,000 x 2,000 mm (78.7 x 78.7 in), and Zayer states that it can be interpolated with the linear axes. That makes the table a working axis for contouring, more than a device for presenting a new face of the part.

Longitudinal travel is listed in three steps: 2,500 mm (98.4 in), 3,000 mm (118.1 in), or 4,000 mm (157.5 in) as an option. Zayer prints each as an unequal minus and plus stroke, so the table travels further to one side of the ram than to the other. Y is 1,200 mm (47.2 in), or 1,600 mm (63.0 in) optional. Z is 1,600 mm (63.0 in), with 2,000, 2,500 or 3,000 mm (78.7, 98.4 or 118.1 in) as options.

Unlike the XIOS, whose longitudinal axis uses a rack and pinion, all three linear axes here are driven by ball screws, and Zayer gives one rapid feed figure, 35,000 mm/min (1,378 ipm), with 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) working feed. Power, spindle head speed and accuracy match the XIOS: 41 kW (55.0 hp) with 61 kW (81.8 hp) optional, 6,000 or 8,000 rpm, and 0.008/4,000 mm positioning.

Table load is given as 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 kg (11,023, 22,046 or 33,069 lb), and machine weight as about 25,000 to 50,000 kg (55,115 to 110,229 lb). The page does not tie those steps to a table size, so confirm the pairing. Two listed options change what the machine is: a version with two working tables, and Milling - Turning. Zayer titles the product XIOS G / XIOS G-MT.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Rotary table of 1,500 x 1,500 mm (59.1 x 59.1 in) or 2,000 x 2,000 mm (78.7 x 78.7 in) that interpolates with the linear axes
  • Milling - Turning is a listed option, as is a machine with two working tables
  • Vertical travel options up to 3,000 mm (118.1 in)
  • Table load up to 15,000 kg (33,069 lb)
  • 41 kW (55.0 hp) as standard, 61 kW (81.8 hp) optional

Limitations

  • The 4,000 mm (157.5 in) longitudinal travel is an option; the other listed strokes are 2,500 mm (98.4 in) and 3,000 mm (118.1 in)
  • Zayer does not say which table size goes with which of the three table loads
  • No rotary table speed or torque is published, which matters for the turning option
  • Machine weight of about 25,000 to 50,000 kg (55,115 to 110,229 lb) calls for a prepared foundation

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What rotary table sizes does the XIOS G offer?

Two: 1,500 x 1,500 mm (59.1 x 59.1 in) and 2,000 x 2,000 mm (78.7 x 78.7 in). Zayer describes the table as interpolable with the linear axes. Allowed weight on the table is listed as 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 kg (11,023, 22,046 or 33,069 lb).

02 Can the XIOS G turn as well as mill?

Zayer lists Milling - Turning as an option in the accessory table and titles the product XIOS G / XIOS G-MT. The specification table gives no turning speed or torque for the table, so those figures have to come from Zayer for the configuration you are considering.

03 What is the X travel of the XIOS G?

Longitudinal travel is 2,500 mm (98.4 in) or 3,000 mm (118.1 in), with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) as an option. Each stroke is printed as an unequal minus and plus distance. The axis is driven by a ball screw.

04 How does the XIOS G differ from the XIOS?

The XIOS has a plain table 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm (118.1, 157.5 or 196.9 in) long. The XIOS G swaps it for a rotary table and shorter longitudinal strokes, and drives that axis with a ball screw. Power, head choices and the Y and Z options are the same on both.

05 How many tools does the XIOS G magazine hold?

30 tools as standard. Magazines for 40, 60, 80 or 100 tools are optional. The standard head is the 45º automatic head, and five other heads are listed as options, including a 30º head with a 33 kW electrospindle.
