Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Hartford PBM-135C that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Fifteen tonnes on the table: the Hartford PBM-135C is the largest PBM horizontal boring mill, with a table of 1,800 x 2,000 mm (70.9 x 78.7 in) rated for 15,000 kg (33,069 lb). It is also the only PBM whose standard X travel is 3,000 mm, with 4,000 mm as the option.
The longer base stroke follows from the table. A two-metre table has to travel further for the spindle to reach both of its ends, and Hartford's X row for this model reads 3,000 opt. 4,000 mm where the PBM-135B reads 2,500 opt. 3,000 / 4,000 mm. Y and Z are as on the other PBM-135 machines: 2,000 mm with 2,500 mm optional, and 1,500 mm with 2,000 mm optional. W axis travel is 700 mm (27.6 in).
Nothing changes at the spindle. It is a #50 gear head at 2,500 rpm in a box-type spindle stock, driven by 22 / 26 kW or optionally 30 / 37 kW (Cont. / 30 min), with a 4-step speed change and D4 class bearings. Tools are BT-50, or CAT50, DIN or BBT50, in a 32, 40 or 60 tool magazine.
Hartford describes the column as a large casting that improves cutting stability by 25%, with box guideways 780mm apart. For parts near the load limit, the foundation and crane capacity of the shop deserve as much attention as the machine itself.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Table of 1,800 x 2,000 mm (70.9 x 78.7 in) rated for 15,000 kg (33,069 lb)
- Standard X travel of 3,000 mm, optionally 4,000 mm
- Large-cast column with a claimed 25% gain in cutting stability
- #50 gear spindle with 4-step speed change and D4 class bearings
- W axis of 700 mm (27.6 in) for reaching into deep parts
Limitations
- The spindle and motor are the same as on the smaller PBM-135A; only the table grows
- 2,500 rpm maximum spindle speed
- Standard Y travel of 2,000 mm equals the table depth, leaving no margin without the 2,500 mm option
- Machine weight, footprint and foundation requirements are not published on the product page

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table is 1,800 x 2,000 mm (70.9 x 78.7 in) and its average load is 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), the highest of the PBM models.
02
3,000 mm as listed, with 4,000 mm optional. Y travel is 2,000 mm (2,500 mm optional), Z travel is 1,500 mm (2,000 mm optional) and W travel is 700 mm (27.6 in).
03
No. Both list a #50 gear-head spindle at 2,500 rpm with a 22 / 26 kW motor and a 30 / 37 kW option. Hartford's torque statement, 6494N/m (37kw), appears on both pages. The PBM-135C differs in table size, load and standard X travel.
04
The ATC row reads A: 32 / 40 / 60 pcs: an arm-type changer with 32, 40 or 60 tools. Maximum tool weight and length, which matter for boring bars, are not stated on the page.
