You Ji HFB180 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the You Ji HFB180 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from You Ji or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Bigger in every part of the headstock than the HFB150, the You Ji HFB180 is You Ji's heaviest floor type horizontal boring and milling machine. Its spindle quill is Ø180 mm (7.1 in), its ram is 550 x 500 mm (21.7 x 19.7 in) in cross section, and the two together reach 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in Z and 900 mm (35.4 in) in W.

Those strokes are the working difference. A thick-walled casing, a deep stator frame or a hub with a long bore can be machined from one column position, where a shorter ram would need the part moved closer or an extension fitted. The heavier ram also holds its line better at full extension.

The headstock climbs 4,000, 5,000 or 6,000 mm (157.5, 196.9 or 236.2 in) in Y. You Ji balances it with dual ball screws under servo tandem control, runs the slides on hydrostatic units, and drives the column by rack and pinion with backlash elimination. Spindle speed is 2,000 rpm, a notch below the HFB150's 2,500 rpm, as expected of a larger quill.

Under the work goes floor plate FT17/30, 1,750 x 3,000 mm (68.9 x 118.1 in) and 350 mm (13.8 in) thick. The X-axis travel is not shown in this page's table: the catalogue and You Ji's website give different ranges for the HFB180, so the available column runs should be confirmed directly. Spindle power is also unpublished.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Ø180 mm (7.1 in) spindle quill in a 550 x 500 mm (21.7 x 19.7 in) ram
  • 1,100 mm (43.3 in) Z-axis and 900 mm (35.4 in) W-axis travel
  • Y-axis travel up to 6,000 mm (236.2 in)
  • Hydrostatic sliding units with high load capacity
  • 350 mm (13.8 in) thick floor plates (FT17/30)

Limitations

  • Spindle speed of 2,000 rpm
  • X-axis travel figures differ between the maker's catalogue and website
  • Smallest Y travel is 4,000 mm (157.5 in), so the machine needs a very tall building
  • No spindle power, taper or attachment data in the table

Best For

Deep bores in turbine, generator and mill casings Tall workpieces up to 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of vertical travel Heavy cuts at long reach where ram stiffness matters

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How far can the HFB180 spindle reach?

The ram travels 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in Z and the quill another 900 mm (35.4 in) in W. The ram cross section is 550 x 500 mm (21.7 x 19.7 in) and the quill diameter Ø180 mm (7.1 in).

02 What vertical travel is available?

Y-axis travel is 4,000, 5,000 or 6,000 mm (157.5, 196.9 or 236.2 in). You Ji states that the Y-axis sliding unit uses dual ball screws with servo tandem control for balancing compensation.

03 How does the HFB180 differ from the HFB150?

The HFB150 has a Ø150 mm (5.9 in) quill, a 440 x 400 mm (17.3 x 15.7 in) ram, 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z, 750 mm (29.5 in) of W and 2,500 rpm. The HFB180 is larger on each of those travels and dimensions and runs at 2,000 rpm.

04 What floor plates does it use?

The catalogue lists floor plate FT17/30 at 1,750 x 3,000 mm (68.9 x 118.1 in) with a thickness of 350 mm (13.8 in). Layout and quantity are decided per installation.
