Overview

Top of the NSV106 line for mold work, the YCM NSV106AMS combines the heavier table of the S machine with the controlled axis speeds of the M machine. Travels are 1,020 mm (40.16 in) in X and 600 mm (23.62 in) in Y and Z; rapid traverse is 24 m/min (945 ipm) on every axis.

Power is the first difference from the NSV106AM. The standard spindle is rated 25 kW (34 HP) at 12,000 rpm, and 37 kW (50 HP) is available as an option, with 15,000 rpm as the optional speed. That is enough to rough a steel block and finish it on the same machine, which keeps the part in one setup.

The second difference is weight capacity. YCM rates the table for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) and builds the frame with 45 mm roller guideways, large-diameter ball screws, six slide blocks on X and a one-piece motor housing. The Z axis rapids at 24 m/min here, while the NSV106AM is held to 16 m/min.

Thermal control comes as a package. A spindle cooling unit works on the headstock and micro oil-air lubrication on the bearings, and YCM describes the combination as well suited to the die and mold industry. The magazine is a 24-tool disk with 30 and 48-tool options. The 1,120 x 650 mm table has T-slots listed as 6 x 18 x 100 mm, and spindle nose to table is 100~700 mm (3.94~27.56 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 25 kW (34 HP) spindle as standard with a 37 kW (50 HP) option
  • Table load of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) for large mold blocks
  • Spindle cooling unit plus micro oil-air lubrication
  • 45 mm roller guideways with large-diameter ball screws on 3 axes
  • Z rapid of 24 m/min (945 ipm), faster than the 16 m/min of the NSV106AM

Limitations

  • Rapids of 24 m/min (945 ipm) are half those of the NSV106AS
  • The 37 kW (50 HP) spindle and 15,000 rpm are options
  • Tool weight is limited to 6 kg (13.2 lb) by the BBT40 magazine
  • Machine weight is 7,000 kg (15,432 lb), the same as the lighter-rated models, so the higher table load does not come from added mass
06

Best For

Roughing and finishing steel mold blocks up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) in one setup Die and mold work that needs 25 kW (34 HP) or more at the spindle Long finishing runs that depend on spindle cooling
